Why are human beings still ...

... getting colds?

All week I've had what Ned Flanders on The Simpsons would call a wang-dang-diddly-doozie of a cold. The kind that makes my every waking moment miserable but doesn't incapacitate me enough to keep me in bed.

I was so sure that by the time the calendar year hit 2000, I'd be living the life of George Jetson: driving my flying car to work every morning, having a robot maid to clean my house and take my talking dog to speech therapy. And I wouldn't be having colds anymore. They'd have found a cure for that by now.

As part of my health regimen of the last few years, I've discovered that the fewer medicines I take for a cold, the quicker I get over it. As if to drive the point home, on Tuesday I took one Sudafed, and after about 15 minutes, I went on a nonstop sneezing jag that lasted an hour. I'm hereby officially swearing off anything stronger than ibuprofen when I have a cold.

I'm still open to natural remedies, though. I'd love to hear your suggestions. What do you take for a cold?

All I take for a cold is paracetamol for the headache, so that I can get a good night's sleep. I might sit over a bowl of hot water and inhale some steam to clear the tubes but I don't stick anything in the water because I think that just inflames the membranes.

Basically I do all I can to let my system fight the virus on it's own. I'm pretty sure some of these cold cures must inhibit the immune system.

Sleep, steam and lots of fluids.

I rarely get sick.
Chamomile tea, just as a comfort.
Chicken soup for placebo effect.
Get well soon.

Drink lots of water ...
use a saline nose spray, zinc,
and get lots of rest.

Odourless Garlic, Echinacea & Goldenseal Blend, Herbal teas, like Chamomile mentioned above, and very little foods high in sugars--Bacteria and Viruses love sugar...Don't feed the little buggers! Seriously Pill, I really went hard with that combo--and my flu/chest infection has virtually disappeared...I would have been much, much worse--I know it. Take care Babe, try these and see if they work for you!

I have recently started using natural remedies for different things and I swear by them, for the most part.
