This is not a Viagra joke (well, maybe it is; you decide)

There's a NASCAR driver, Mike Martin, whose team is sponsored by Viagra.

Now, I understand why Pfizer and the other manufacturers of ED medications (that's erectile dysfunction for those of you who've been visiting Jupiter the past few years; impotence is no longer PC) would want to advertise in sports venues. After all, that's where the men who look at ads are. Cialis sponsors Major League Baseball. Levitra sponsors the NFL, complete with commercials featuring Mike Ditka. (Come to think of it, I haven't seen those commercials in a while. Now they've got a hot-looking 40-something woman talking about how great sex is with her guy. Much more effective, if you ask me.)

But Viagra and NASCAR ... I dunno, folks. Just doesn't strike me as a good match.

I thought the whole point of NASCAR was to go very, very fast and finish as soon as possible.

Surely there must be a slow, steady sport with a climactic ending that would be a better fit.

My first thought was cricket, but that just seems slow, confusing, and pointless. On second thought, that sounds like a lot of the sex I've had.

Tennis? Lots of going back and forth, lots of give and take. It works best with two partners who are evenly matched in skill and experience. And it's got "love" in it. Hmmm ... I think I'm onto something.

I think they've hit their target market.
The "sport" may not evoke images of an eternally flaccid penis but the stereotypical fan certainly does.

Yes, cricket is completely pointless. Speaking as someone trapped in the middle of a test season with a son who watches it all day when it's on. The pace never varies and it just sends me to sleep. Sounds just like the ex, another cricket fan. They do, however, change ends frequently, and I'm all for that.
