Monday makeover

Yesterday I posted a comment on someone’s blog about what kind of “firsts” I’d had since joining this site. I won’t repeat it for you; it’s easy enough to find. I was trying to be funny, but after re-reading it, I think it sounds sarcastic and self-pitying. And I hate to sound like I’m feeling sorry for myself. (If I hated sarcasm, I wouldn’t be able to stand myself at all.) If I’m not satisfied with any part of my life, I just need to roll up my sleeves and do something about it.

So I overhauled my profile. After three months, it was probably time anyway. I added a few more pictures, which I understand don’t show up that well if you’re a standard member. Sorry, but there’s not much I can do about that. I left in the funny part at the beginning, which seems to get the most positive response. I tried to be a little clearer about who and what I’m looking for, although it’s probably still not clear enough. Some things I know I want. As for the rest, let’s just say I’m trying to practice spontaneity, which doesn’t come naturally to me. I directed people to my trail of postings throughout this site, which is where you’re more likely to find the “real” me.

Honestly, I don’t know what to put in these things. I can’t deny the usefulness of profiles. I just think they’re limited in what they can do. All they can really do is spark your interest. If you really want to get to know me, you’re going to have to do some of the work. Sorry if that sounds pompous, but really, can’t you say the same thing?

Anyway, if you want to look at it and provide feedback, help yourself. It’s up to you. I appreciate the interest. Just don’t be offended if I don’t take your advice. Nothing personal.

I did things the wrong way round, which basically sums me up. I read you in a group, went to your profile then came here in a quiet moment.

I think your profile is very good. It made me laugh and that's always the prime thing for me. Makes me draw my chair in closer and pay attention. I love sarcasm, goodness I'm English, our humour is called satire but it's basically just sarcasm.

But you're so right. The groups are where you see a person best.
