Holiday haiku

True Japanese haiku deals with seasons. With that in mind, here’s a little haiku for the 4th of July.

Texas in July.
Hundred degrees in the shade.
Skeeters everywhere!

Hot dogs on the grill.
I can taste them now. Oh, crap!
Who forgot the buns?

Okay, so I can't say it's my favorite holiday. But I do enjoy the day off. I hope you’re all having a happy 4th, whatever you’re doing.

Kentucky in July.
Tempers flare with the heat
Storm coming!

Wind blows the cool air.
Thunder sounds echoing from the hills.
Raindrops on my face!

Dang, berrigal2, I want some of that rain that you all are having in KY and MO......

but I got to see some fireworks up close tonight. The 4th ends on a good note for me... and we can move ahead...

Berri, you're a doll.
Write me poems anytime.
They go to my heart.

Texas summer rain.
I've forgotten what that's like.
Sounds like you have, too.
