Chat room and other things

Wow. I do not recommend going into a chat room when you're exhausted. I nearly got eyestrain trying to keep up with the flow. I so need sleep. But I live with my parents (long story), I prefer to with the door open, and I don't wear anything to bed. Not a good combination. Another hour I'll probably give in and shut my door, but for now, I perservere (does this thing have spellcheck?) What is chat room etiquette, anyway? I don't mean to be mean, but I'm on this site to find something specific, and I don't want to give out my email/messenger ID to someone who doesn't fit what I want (i.e. I don't want married). But non-paying members apparently can't look at profiles, so how are they to know (I can, but that might just be because I'm new and they want to set the hook firmly before cutting me off)? How do I say not interested without coming off as cold? I've heard that the chat room can be an important part of the online experience, so I don't want to avoid it, but I also don't want to be part of an exchange like I saw earlier (you know what I mean). And it's important I get the most out of my time here. The whole reason I'm not asleep is because I'm too darn worked up! And self-gratification just ain't workin'. AAAAUUUUGGGHHH!!!!

Suggestion 1: Go to a chat room with relatively few people in it. The conversations are usually easier to follow that way.
Suggestion 2: If anyone asks for your other contact info, just say "I only chat in here" or "I only give my other contact info to people I know".
Suggestion 3: If you do find someone with whom you want to go private, AdultFriendFinder has its own IM system, so you don't have to give out any other contact information.

Yes, this thing has spell check. It's the little ABC+checkmark icon below the text entry window.

I know what you mean about staying up too late, hooked on chat.

Good luck finding what you want.
