A lot of profiles, typically but not exclusively women's, include some variation on, "I don't want anyone that plays games."

I think I understand what is meant generally, but I think that this is too vague. I don't really comprehend what sorts of behavior are meant by this. I also suspect that it is one of those words for which there is a fair amount of variation in what its users mean.

Further, I'd bet that it is completely worthless in a profile. Not only because it is vague, but also that those who play games don't believe that they do so. I think that including it weeds out exactly no one, even among those who do take the time to read the whole thing.

I could be wrong, of course. That's been known to happen, though only on rare occasions. I'm just curious what other people think about it, and what people mean when they use the word.

(As an aside, I can't understand why people don't want to read the whole profile. Some of them are interesting. Some of them are unintentionally hilarious. I consider them to be one of the highlights of this place. I suppose that, after I've been here longer, a lot of them will start to sound the same, but it hasn't happened yet.)

Well, that's a pretty good answer. Makes it sort of hard to opt out, though.
