Great Expectations or Does This Approach Really Work?

I have a lovely neice, late 20's, very attractive (no guys, you can't have her number)and she recently told me of a date she had with a young lawyer. She is a personal assistant to the vice president of a large retail firm in Boston and the young lawyer stopped by several times on business and finally asked her out. Have a bite to eat "someplace nice". He picked her up at her condo in his new BMW. He wore a tee shirt, jeans, sneakers, sport coat, and a Red Sox cap. And took her to the local Pizza Uno. Shown to their table, he pulled out his chair and sat down while she remove her coat and then sat down. Lawyer took both menus and said he would order. Told the waiter they wanted two lite beers and a mushroom pizza. My neice said she didn't want beer and did not like mushrooms on her pizza. Lawyer said beer was the only thing to drink with pizza and she should learn to like mushrooms as they gave a better flavor to things and sent the waiter off with that order. 45 minutes later the lawyer was finished with both beers and most of the pizza while telling her what a great career he had. She had one slice and drank water. He got up, laid some money on the table and waited while she put on her jacket. Outside she asked what next? Back to your place so we can get to know each other better he said. When they arrived at her condo she stuck out her hand and said thanks for a different kind of evening. He protested "but I'm a lawyer. I have a BWM!" Goodnight, end of date. Now, I chuckled at the story at the time but thought about it later. Could some guy really expect to land an attractive, well educated, intelligent young woman with a pizza and a beer?
