Thanks Chicago!!!!

This is my small way of saying thanks to Chicago. I stayed there after Hurricane Katrina.
In September, my job transferred me to Chicago because of Hurricane Katrina. I guess it was the silver lining in the clouds...

I always wanted to live in Chicago. So magically I was there.

It was my home away from home. I had an opportunity to experience events I probably would have never experienced. I met a lot of great people. (some people I wish I never met!!)

It still seems strange to me how everything is working out. I never thought in a million years something like this would happen in New Orleans. We always talked about the "Big One!"
Every year we would evacuate. Sitting in your car 26 hours when you are going for a 8 hour drive. Buying supplies that you barely use, then to leave and nothing never happens. Well, I feel sorry for those individuals who didn't leave. Some of the people who stayed were my friends and family. I still don't know where everyone as settle down. Sadly, we have buried some of them over the past couple of months.

Chicago kind of reminded me of New Orleans. It has rich culture and I guess okay food. (yeah, I from New Orleans! We season our food! ). It has beautiful atmosphere! I really didn’t get a chance to experience the night(club) life…I had to really find a club to go to… If you can tell me, please leave me a message… But overall, it seemed to be a nice place to stay.

While I am in the process of trying to rebuild my life here in New Orleans, which is a very great task, I will always think about Chicago, my new home away from home!

You're welcome! I'm sorry I din't get a chance to meet you while you were in Chi town. I love New Orleans and it broke my heart when this tragedy occurred. I did meet some people from N.O. during that time and as always....they let that southern hospitality right out of the bag! I will be in N.O. for All Star weekend next year. Maybe we can go have some beignets or some gumbo. Let me know what you think. Oh and by the way, Welcome back to my 2nd home "The Big Easy!"

Thanks. I am sorry that I missed you too. I will visit Chicago sometime during the summer. Maybe we can meet when I get there. I would also love to be your personal guide around the "Big Easy"! Just send me a message if you would like to continue this conversation.
