My weekend of being stood up and lied to (a novel, to warn you)

Towards the end of the work day on Friday I though I was going to have a nice little weekend. I was scheduled to actually meet someone that I had met on yhoo Friday after work for a couple of drinks and was scheduled to meet someone from this site on Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. I wasn't expecting anything sexual in these meetings, just more so to meet face-to-face to see if there might be in our future.
The woman I was meeting on Friday had told me that she worked in downtown Minneapolis (like me) as a business analyst at the HQ of a national retailer and that she was married with 2 kids. We met at 5 pm, and she showed up in jeans and a t-shirt. Now I have nothing against jeans and a t-shirt (in fact that is what I am lucky enough to get to wear to work), but I know that people that work for that company are not allowed to dress like that. I asked her about it, and she first said that she was allowed to wear that to work and when I questioned that she changed up and said that she had changed out of her work clothes right before meeting me. Whatever I thought, so we talked for a bit and the topic of kids came up and she commented "I am really looking forward to having kids someday because I think I have a lot to offer.". I said that I thought she had 2 kids already, and she stammered a second and said "Oh I do, I meant more kids". I then looked at her left hand and of course, no band . . . so I just stood up and told her that I don't appreciate being lied to and left.
I was a little steamed after that, but figured it was just one of those things and started looking towards Saturday. Saturday came, and I called the woman I was meeting for the late lunch to confirm where and when. I showed up on time (10 minutes early in fact) and there was no sign of her. I waited 20 minutes past and still no sign, so I called her and she said she had just left there and didn't see me and that she had to go and hung up. The place we were to meet was a very small neighborhood restaurant that only had one entrance and was not crowded at all, so I know I didn't miss her.
I haven't met (or attempted to meet) a ton of people off of the net yet. The first few have gone well (meaning they showed up and weren't liars), but these last 2 have me wondering . . . is this a common occurance? I talked to both of these people for awhile online before we ever decided to meet, so it wasn't like I chatted with them for 10 minutes and wanted to hook up . . .

Sounds like a pretty shit weekend babe. I'm sure it's only because of "2 in a row" that you're starting to wonder. There are non-liars out there, and eventually you'll fine one local to you.

Blogito ergo sum.

Dude, I have to agree with "Considering." I think that it was simply horrible luck, on your part to get 2 shit-heads in a row. We're bound to come across some of these on the internet. It sounds to me as though, in both cases, you called their bluff and scared the shit out of both of them. Their fantasy world became reality and I don't think that they were ready to step up to the plate. Have you tried chatting with either of these "ladies" since? It might be interesting to see their reactions? Anyway, keep your chin up, we need you out there in the trenches. lol.

Be good but have fun.

Unfortunately there are those on the Net that will do that. I don't understand it. Everyone here should be adults, but certainly don't act like them. I've been stood up several times, but have also been lucky in finding quite a few that were honest and genuine. I'm sure you will find someone...just don't give up. Oh, btw...I love the pic
