Today in the world of futility

So here I am, on a network of people who are all looking for something. After a couple weeks online here, I realized that unless I pay money, nothing I do or is likely to attract notice. I can't contact others, or even read their profiles. I understand the situation of course, it costs money to provide services, but when I look at what is here, and compare it to what is around me in r/l, I know I would rather spend my money buying drinks for a pretty girl at a club that is just using me to get drunk so she can go home with someone else, than to pay a large monthly fee so that I can try to contact people with no idea who they are, what they look like, and if they are even the right gender. The truth is that you never get anywhere without spending money. Being "out there" is not enough, particularly for men. As proof, I am writing this little blog, which not one comment will be left for. I know this because when I write things in my journal for my friends, they all ignore it too.
