Natural.. Occurences.

All the flowers that you planted, mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away.

What’s the little fellow call himself these days?

I grew up in a row of terraced houses with a very small garden at the front. It faced a large field where kids played football and people walked their dogs and such, my bedroom looked out over both of them.

As small as the garden is, it always amazed me how many plants and flowers my Mother could fit in, never mind the colour and variety, it was a little oasis.
For as long as I can remember whatever spare time she had you would find her in HER garden, more often than not chatting with someone who whilst passing had stopped to comment and admire this little paradise; Strangers and neighbours alike.

There isn’t that much left to show of its former beauty now apart from overgrown weeds the odd plant and a Lilac tree that still blooms every year. The Lilac tree grew from a cutting she had taken from the plant of a Great Grandparent's before I was born.

She bought me my first plant when I was eighteen after I started showing interest in coconut palms.
At the time I just wanted it because it looked COOL but she showed me how to nurture It.. Friends admired it; I loved it.
When I left home I didn’t want to take it with me in case it died, because for four years it had sat happy and healthy by my bedroom window (south facing). I hadn’t gone far (college = home comforts) so between my mother and I we tended to it’s needs, we managed to keep it going eight years three of those by myself.

It’s been eleven years since I moved out and I hate not having a garden, just to sit in and listen to the birds and have the scent of flowers, plants and herbs subtly waft you from all directions.

When the time is right I'll eventually find myself a home with a garden...

...and I’m going to get a cutting of that Lilac tree and nurture it…

Can you remember the last time you actually noticed and purposely stopped a moment to listen to the song of a bird?

That picture is a "bird of paradise" i think.

Well you already know that I am addicted to my Frangipanis. I bought alot of them with me when I left the Ex, however, my larger ones there are in the ground (not in pots)so I left them at the house. Plus I dont have the room for them on the balcony in my apartment.

At least I know my daughter loves them too, so maybe when she's at her Dads house and sees them there, she'll think of me.

Frangi xx

BGRSWEET: Wow... I had to be up early for work..
(I deffo need my beauty sleep, Lo... and I went to bed thinking I hadn't done your comment enough justice.

A Humming bird how lush is that! I know what you mean about ground gardening, I've grown vegetables before for a relative in their garden, quite successfully, though the runner beans didn't fair so well.. they fell at the first hurdle (honestly)

This post was inspired (Naturally) by:

BGizSWEET's Dandelions and lilies
EMERALD EYES’s Galaxies and night skys
FRANGI’s Fruit salad Frangipani
FREELOVE's Bird of Paradise, Protea's
MTR’s Rainbows
REDLIP’s Trees
SPECIALK’s White daisies with yellow centers
SUPERBABE’s Tulips

Think of this like a communal garden of sorts
Feel free to PLANT a comment I know x2, I couldn’t help myself though (Lo
