Why do i gotta be gay or have a live in girlfriend?

I just don't understand somethings these days. I had the craziest thing happen sat night. I invited a chic from the club back to my place. When she walked in, she just aimlessly looked around the room. The first thing out of her mouth was " are you gay?" when i sai no, she replied with "then you must have a live in girlfriend" i replied no to that too. Why is it that women have this thought of a bachelor pad being full of patio furniture and alcohol bottle surrounding the room? I can't help it that i have taste and pride in my place. I love the feeling of leather. I love having a beautiful saltwater reef tank in the living room. I love a nice kept place. To me it represents you as a whole. Am i the only one that experiences shit like this?

I used to have a neat and clean place and would get exactly the same responses...LOL, but since I moved back to this particular house and cleaned out my office building, my old apartment and another house that was filled with years of boxes, cd's, photos, books,etc.etc., I haven't gotten this one to where it should be...and now I'm moving soon...LOL.

I manage over 420 different private condos, so I get to see a lot of interior designs down in south beach . I have learned what looks good and bad. I also get to speak to a lot of designers and they pass me advice. I own 2 apartment... one on the beach as my part time office and when I drink I sleep there ( can't drink and drive ) and the other is my home.

I had almost the same problem. brought a nice girl over one day, and she asked me if I had a girlfriend ( nope ), then she went on to inspect my entire beach apartment. I got her to admit, she was looking for any signs of another woman. I got pissed. and I asked her to leave, which took about 10 minutes.

I really felt weird after that, what gives a woman the right to inspect for that. Given my place looks decent, it's not that great, but I keep it real clean and I wash the floors all the time. I have nice smelling candles.

so you are not alone in this.

p.s. always empty the trash daily ( in the morning )

Siz--you have obsticles that i don't have...children..They say the bachelor pad dies asa you have em'.....not a bad thing though. i would trade the love of a child for my leather and fish tank anyday.

MojoMIke--I feel ya bro. I am so sompulsive, i can not go to bed knowing there is a dish in the sink. I could be home from the club, staggering and dry heaving..still hunched over the sink cleaning so i can lay down....LOL

I WISH!!!!!! my BF spent tens of thousands of dollars renovating his condo, and i cant get him to wash a single dish or pick his clothes off the floor. its all over the apt. essentially a 1100 sq ft closet. he bought expensive furniture and the most expensive wall treatments i have seen in my life, but thinks its all got to be the same wood color, has mail and crap all over the place and puts millions of holes in the walls trying to hang a picture instead of using a fucking level (pardon my french but it really pisses me off! lol).

unfortunately i cant undue all the damamge his mother has done to him (by making him tacky, wasteful and reliant on a maid). it is going to take time and patience.

HOWEVER, the point is that i admire that you are OCD like me. if its any consolation, i dont think you are gay or that you have a girlfriend; you were simply brought up well. i have never walked into a guys room/house and thought that a neat or tastful place was a result of either. i just something to add to the positive list.

You're not the only one with this problem! My older brother & I were taught from an early age to clean house, do laundry, iron clothes, repair loose buttons, cook, shop for groceries, mow the lawn, take care of the car, you name it our parents taught us how to do it & made sure we did it! Both my father & mother believed it was important for both of us to take pride in ourselves & our property. We were also taught to be well dressed, clean cut & just plain clean. We both also learned we had our own design taste & followed it. Both of us have had the same kind of "descrimination" you describe. The fact that my older brother is straight & I am gay should mean nothing on this fact. I have straight & gay friends, both male & female, that are just as tidy as my brother & I AND those that are a big a pigs as you would hate to find. Much of this "a man has to be a pig & a women has to be tidy with taste" shit comes from old stereotypes that are now perpetuated by TV & the movies. Stick to your guns & keep you home as fantastic as you have it & ignore the stupid women AND the men who have such small minds they think you must be gay to have an exceptional home!!! Believe in your ability to create a HOME (as opposed to a house or apartment) and keep your pride!!! You deserve it!!!
