Fake AFF members.

Okay, one thing that really pisses me off is the onslaught of fake AdultFriendFinder members. It's like the people who create these profiles have some kind of macro or script that auto-fills the sign-up fields! When you see on the main page that 2 of 4 recent profiles with updated photos are "ear2384lint" and "ear_9987sock", I mean... come on. And here's something else I've noticed: most of these profiles, if not FULLY verbatim, always have these duplicate one-liners like "I'm not trying to change my life, I'm just trying to have some fun."

I have this grandiose idea to create some cheap-ass HTML page, you know... a site that EVERYONE on the internet can visit - and post the username of every freaking fake profile I come across. It's rediculous how many of these there are and they're all just porn site spammers looking to spam the hell out of your email address or end up getting money from you after trying to build a fake relationship with you on a messenger - it's really rediculous and I'm sick of it. Can you tell? lol.

Anywho... I'm sure some of you have no idea how deep this whole thing goes but the scams get pretty complex. Those of you looking for something sincere out of this site, beware.

As long as we allow free members, this is going to go on. Not much the site can do until they're turned in for something. I've even seen some who were gold members. But they are pretty easy to spot. As a friend of mine who has been in the scene for years told me: "If it seems too good to be true, then it is." Best advice, just don't be desparate. think. They only catch the desparate people. Good post. Joe

"McVeigh had the right idea, wrong address."

"This ain't Dodge City, and you ain't Bill Hickok."

I agree. That's why I just gave up trying to meet people here. If they're interested in me, then they're most likely a 'bot.

I stick to the blogs now. No fake member is going to write a daily blog.

Aw crap... Now I just gave them an idea...

See... if the people who run this site really wanted to do something more about this issue, they could. The fact of the matter is, these fake profiles help generate traffic to the site. Period. I think that's a little shady but everyone's got to make their money. I first signed up on this site months and months ago under the premise that the majority of the people I searched for would respond with at least SOMETHING, regardless of if they had photos in their profiles or not!

Like Package1971 said, it's almost gotten to be a moot point to go through profiles in hopes of finding anything unless it's a silver or gold member... and even then, the chances are slim and none depending on what city you're from. Likewise, as fastfifties mentioned, the logic of "too good to be true" not applying to silver and gold members is also a facade! You know? Instead of "oh, this person is silver/gold, they paid, this really must be more than some fake," it's become a total free-for-all and it seems like the fakes are staking the majority of the claim here!

Now, again, I realize that the chances are much better of you finding someone if you're not limited by mileage or you live in some huge-ass city such as Dallas, Texas. It just gets a little frustrating that, okay, yeah, I NOW KNOW what I've gotten into by paying to be gold for a year but had I known what a battle it would be to find JUST ONE *LEGIT* person on the other end of a profile... I can't say I would've ever forked over the cash! You know?

I'm not against the site at all, I know there are P.L.E.N.T.Y of real folks out there (such as those of you in this and other blog posts) but my main concern is for the people who spend their (sometimes hard-earned) money to have ALL these "benefits" and "priviledges" with profiles, contacting and having people contact them when it ends up turning into spammer's paradise in their personal email accounts leading to sexkey sites and all that garbage.

Lastly, I was on this site a good 4 or 5 years ago (or thereabouts) and it was never, never, never this bad. It's not just this site, either! You know? It's on all the major dating/hook-up sites. Now, I know it's become par for the course but, dang it... are there just not that many people that give a rip about it being as big of an issue as it is? Are we ALL just supposed to become complacent with this issue? Surely not.

To those of you who have found your success here, I congratulate you! You probably won't see this issue from my perspective but for those of you who'd like to see something done about it, what are some ideas you could come up with to help combat it? I'm extremely pro-active and I work my ass off to fight for something I think is right and I only feel that paying members' money should go to something more valuable than dead-ends and rants on their blogs about it. (lmao.)

Thoughts?
