The 10 Commandments of Chivalry

The 10 Commandments of Chivalry

Thou shalt believe all that the church teaches, and shalt observe its directions.

Thou shalt defend the church

Thou shalt respect all weaknesses, and shalt constitute thyself and defender of them.

Thou shalt love the country in which thou wast born.

Thou shalt not recoil before thine enemy.

Thou shalt make war against the Infidel without cessation, and without mercy.

Thou shalt perform scrupulously they feudal duties, if they be not contrary to the laws of god.

Thou shalt never lie, and shalt remain faithful to thy pledged word.

Thou shalt be generous, and give largesse to everyone.

Thou shalt be everywhere and always the champion of the "Right" and the good against "Injustice" and "Evil."

As a few people (including myself) have said...

Being a true gentleman and knight starts within childhood. If it does not happen then, then it will never happen at all.

LOL, that scene was the funniest of scenes I have ever seen!

Come back here! I'll bite your bloody legs off!

Sorry, Mystic, couldn't resist responding to Philo.

I could accept your variation on the old code, but even then there's a the problem with your interpretation... your beliefs couldn't shift and grow as you learn. Life has a way of changing your perspective.

That reminds me of an old joke: A republican is a democrat who's been mugged by reality.

That is where I differ. My dream since I was very young has been to re-write this code using a mix of the European Knight and the Japanese Samurai.

I do not think in today's times it should be the church because the church is not dominant like it was back then. Today it should be to your own personal beliefs in which you can not alter them and must stay totally true to them.

Right off the bat, I'm screwed... just can't buy into all that any churches proclaims - maybe a little from each, but not the whole enchilada. Guess I'll just have to be a black knight.

I must admit that I do not agree with all of this.

This is a very old piece and figured I would share it since I know some others find this stuff interesting. If I find an updated bit, I will post it.

I must admit... like Nicholas Cage's characted said in the movie "National treasure". People just do not talk this way anymore. It is very beautiful really.
