Quoting?

In light of a recent response…

I do not quote anything or anyone unless I am writing a factual bit.

It was mentioned that no one sees any book titles quoted…

Of course you do not!

If you however look closely, you will see that I have bolded and I’ed all of my quotes from authors. The text is in I’s and the author’s name is in “bold”. That is the way I set it up anyway, if it did not stay that way and you see it, then let me know so I can edit it.

These are the reasons I laugh whenever someone starts bashing my articles and say they are not true. I never write a factual article without quotes. You may be able to debate me, but my quotes speak for themselves and I always give the author’s name.

It is very hard to actually debate something I write when it contains direct quotes. For instance, when I wrote my blog for my book on romance…

I quoted Lou Paget when she said, “In my experience, the surest way to a woman’s heart is through good old-fashioned courting.”

I will trust her advice over my own, and that is why I quoted her because she believes in the same things that I do. That is the whole point of a quote!

People may say that I know nothing, but I use quotes because they are exactly the same in thinking that my articles normally are.

Quotes are meant to be used to backup your points and that is exactly how I use them!

What would be the point of quoting someone who does not feel as you do? The only time I do that is when I am argueing a point specifically and use it to show the debate.

I may have just done it in the wrong way and they mis-read what I was saying.

I shall try again next time i write a informational piece.

Hmmm.. I have posted book reading lists that I have been involved with lately... complete with titles, author names, and some cases the number of pages.... If this can be done, it seems that you should be able to do something very similar. (See my [blog txrose4uNTX] blog posting on the books I received today to study for my next few courses beginning on July 11th, for example.)

If I put the authors name then it is fine. Originally I use to not only write the authors name, but I included the book title and page number as well that i got the quote from.

AdultFriendFinder always denied my posts though because they considered it an advertisement!

Thus I stopped doing it.

Hey, Mystic. It was just some constructive criticism. We all learn from our own misgivings. I am not, and never purported to be, perfect myself. I am still in a learning process through my own blogging.

A mentioning of some of the books you are drawing your facts from would certainly give the rest of us some idea where we could start to go to learn more about the topics that you so eloquently put out on the blogs for us to read and learn.

Thank you for giving us more to go upon when we read your blogs.

Looking forward to reading more about what you have to say....

TxRose
