Notes on Yesterday's and Today's Studies

Just a few notes from my studies yesterday and today.

Rules of Knighthood

Knights only wore their armor and rode their war-horses when confrontation was inevitable.

Knights usually traveled with three horses, one for the squire, one for the armor and weapons, and one that carried him.

Chivalry was the term applied to the role and system of values that knights lived by.

Chivalry was based on three concepts:
Loyalty to the lord and other knights
Bravery, or the ability to use physical force to achieve military or non-military goals
Liberality, or scorn for material wealth

Knights often acted as police, preserved order in the territory, or supervised the construction of roads and villages.

When knights first appeared around the eleventh century, the term knight was not synonymous with noblemen. It applied to any heavy Calvary-man regardless of social background. What truly counted was the functioning and skill on the battlefield.

By the 1300’s knighthood became restricted to noblemen

Becoming a knight was a rite of passage to adulthood

Knights were required to be honorable and that his status could never be challenged unless the challenge was defeated swiftly by force. It involved certain behaviors towards women and peers. A knight had to avoid insulting and using manipulations against peers and proclaim undying love to the wife of a lord.

Glory, honor, courtesy, bravery, and defending women and children were requirements of knighthood.

Notes on the Oriental Sexual Arts

The male’s sacred spot in some Hindu scriptures lies between the testicles and anus, and it is best invoked by a thrust of the lingum in the anus. Many tantrists aver that this gives a thousand times more pleasure than penetrating I yoni. ‒ O: The Intimate History of the Orgasm

Taoist texts reveal the following…

When during the sexual act, the man feels he is about to ejaculate, he should quickly and firmly, using the fore and middle fingers of his left hand, put pressure on the spot between the scrotum and the anus (perineum).

Kamasutra can be traced to around 4,000 BC among the Harraban tribe.

Tantrist, however, ‘does not male love to a vagina, but to a human being as a whole’ (physically and psychologically).

The longer a man can stay within a woman (erect or flaccid), the more female energy he will absorb for his own benefit.

The important thing is that at the point of orgasm, the tantric practitioner rises above ‘self’, the consciousness of one’s own being.

Kama is the goddess of love

Removal of self is the central tenet of the tantra, not devotion to any one other person.

Kamasutra means, ‘treatise on sexual pleasure’.

Sir Richard Burton did the original Kamasutra translation in 1883.

Sexual positions are what the Kamasutra is most famous for. Graphic sexual paintings were common in the Indian culture; wealthy Hindu husbands would commission pictures of themselves having sex with their wives as routinely as Eighteenth-Century Europeans had themselves painted in formal poses with their hunting hounds.
