Singing Suitor

In a vain attempt to be romantic, I took a girlfriend on a picnic. The setting was pretty with a stream close by with some ducks. I decided that to really set the scene, I would bring my guitar along. Unfortunately, I had been struck by a nasty throat bug, but I was not about to cancel this picnic for anything.

Once there I broke out the guitar and started to sing. Though the romance was definitely there, the melody was not. It was particularly dreadful when the notes got higher as you can imagine. After that day, she never wanted me to sing to her again. Now I was going to pose the question, do women still enjoy a guy doing that? But, I wonder whether she just didn't enjoy my singing ever and was just too polite to say so.

Dear Singing Suitor,
The picnic and the scene sound very nice. And your thoughts were in the right place but unfortunately, it sounds a little corny. You could have made a joke of the off key notes and laughed about it.
