2: to insert between or among existing elements or layers
Example: Over time people from other cultures have intercalated days and even months to bring their calendars into alignment with the seasonal year.
One of those obscure words that sounds like it can only be used for one thing...blah. Someone prove me wrong...please! So it has been snowing off and on most of the day. Ummm yeah. I'm so done with winter. I want spring to hurry up. But...I have a couple months to wait still. I am glad it warmed up though. This week has actually gone by at a decent pace, cool. Not sure what the weekend is going to hold yet. I did get my red envelope flix place rental, a documentary on Ron Jeremy I've heard its pretty good and that he is a very talented dude, both in his acting and her ummm performing lol. I'll let ya know after I watch it. I'm gonna hang out with my little dog and stay warm cuz I can't seem to warm up tonight. Hope I'm not getting sick! Yesterday was a tummy thing...icky! But feeling better today. I hope y'all have a great night.

Today's word is YEGG.
Yegg [YEG] noun: safecracker; also: robber
Example: She thought of him as a yegg the way he rushed in and stole her heart with that boyish smile and devilish charm.
Cute word. It first appeared in English around 1825, interesting enough though no one is certain where it originated from. Just another one of life's mysteries I suppose. Anyway I've got some errands to run this evening and I have a writing assignment as well so I'm off to get my shtuff done. I hope y'all have a great night.

Today's word is WELTSCHMERZ.
Weltschmerz [VELT-shmairts] noun, often capitalized:
1: mental depression of apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state
2: a mood or sentimental sadness
Example: The longer he was single and dating woman after woman and not finding "the one" he was looking for he fell into a state of weltschmerz.
This word came about in Europe in the late 18th century and was formed by using the German words for "world" (welt) and "pain" (schmerz). The term was coined in German by the Romantic author Jean Paul in his 1827 novel Salina, but was not adopted into English until the 1860's. What an unusual word but definitely German haha. Anyway its warmed up here and we got about 10 inches of snow here in town yesterday but now its all heavy and turning yucky and very slippery with the rain and warmer temps. My guy is still dealing with frozen pipes and other stuff and I miss him but know he has other shtuff to deal with for now. Maybe he'll get to make a trip over in a couple weeks...I can dream and hope can't I? Oh and some plow dude drove by today and saw me shoveling and asked me if I needed some help. Hell yes!!! Upstairs neighbor gave him some money and told him to keep the change and come back the next time it snows. Right the fuck on! So now I only have to shovel out my truck lol...very cool. Unfortunately we got so much its gonna be really gross and yucky around here for a couple weeks I think. Oh well...you don't have to shovel rain!!! I hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend and have a great Saturday night.

Today's word is DARLING.
Darling [DAHR-ling] noun:
1: a dearly loved person
2: favorite
Example: She was everyone's darling but to him she was something extra special and she had him wrapped around her little finger with her wit and charm and gorgeous smile.
The origins of this word are found in the heart of the English language and its earliest known appearance is in the 9th century. It seems English speakers have a fondness for the word and have held on to it for over a thousand years. I like this word and use it but usually drop the "g" at the end and I get teased for sounding like I'm from Texas lol. Anyway so far we have about 8 inches of white crap on the ground but the good news...its not freezing anymore!!! But more bad news...my guy didn't make it over. Won't go into it but it looks like things were just not in our favor this time...shit happens end of story. So I'm gonna bake some cookies for the friend who helped me with my truck last weekend and watch some movies (that I forgot to take back to the rental store last night so I figured I'd get my monies worth out of the extra 4 days I get them again lol). I hope y'all have a great night!

Today's word is FUSTIAN.
Fustian [FUSS-chun] noun:
1: a strong cotton and linen fabric
2: high-flown or affected writing or speech; broadly: anything high-flown or affected in style
Example: Readers with a low tolerance for fustian might be put off by his style of writing, but he does show good arguments and purpose in his articles and blogs.
Hmmm this is an interesting word. It says the English language picked up this word from Anglo-french who got it from Medieval Latin but beyond that they're not sure. It was first used to describe a type of cloth in the 13th century and the other definition didn't show up for another 3 centuries. So my guy was scheduled to come visit but it might not happen because of the super cold weather we've had. Oh and he's having some vehicle issues...bummer. No worries, sometimes life gets in the way of play time ya know and I totally understand. They say we're suppose to get a ton of snow tomorrow. Not really sure how I feel about that lol. Suppose I'll get some good work outs shoveling it. At least it'll warm up a bit too. I will enjoy my day off work and get some things done and give my 4wheel drive a work out I hope everyone has a great night.

Today's word is JUNKET.
Junket [JUNK-ut] noun: 1: a dessert of sweetened flavored milk set with rennet
2a: a festive social affair
b: a trip, journey: as (1) a trip made by an official at public expense (2): a promotional trip made at another's expense
Example: The ex-governor of our great state of Alaska has been accused of being a junket. But the charges were dropped, even though some of us feel that taking her whole family on trips on our tax dollars should have been punishable and should have been paid back to the people.
So it got a bit warmer today, around 19 or 20 above I think lol. Its back down to about 5 tonight. I hear we set a record the other night at 1 degree above, although I'm not sure what the previous record was it was set in 1969. It suppose to start warming a bit and by Friday we're suppose to be back up around 25 to 28 and snowing more. Give it a few more days after that and the rains will be back to make everything a nice slick skating rink I hope y'all have a great night.

Today's word is GRAUPEL.
Graupel [GROU-pul ("OU" as in "cloud"] noun: granular snow
Example: They lay all snuggled up watching the fire as the graupel hit the deck and sounded like soft hail hitting the wood.
Now this was truly the word today lol I didn't manipulate it to come up that way. Its German in origin from the word graupe meaning pearl barley. It was first seen in an 1889 weather report and has been used to describe "pellets of snow" or "soft hail" and actually the later of those is a synonym of graupel. Anyway its still really fucking cold here. It was down to 2 above this morning and only warmed up to about 8 today and is around 5 I think out now. We might be seeing sub zero tonight. I'm so ready for the spring rains!!! I'm gonna snuggle under my blankets and try to keep warm. Hope everyone is warm where ever you are and has a great night.

Today's word is OSTENSIBLE.
Ostensible [ah-STEN-suh-bul] adjective:
1: intended for display: open to view
2: being such in appearance: plausible rather than demonstrably true or real

Its really fucking cold out tonight. I think the airport says 8 degrees and its still early evening. Its suppose to get colder as the week wears on but the forecast says warmer by Saturday but still not any more than 30. I am so done with winter! I want it to be warm again...and I'm very ok with 40 or 45 at this point! K, gonna go cuddle up with my blanket and my little dog to keep warm. Hope y'all have a good night.

Today's word is XYLOGRAPHY.
Xylography [zye-LAH-gruh-fee] noun: the art of making engravings on wood especially from printing
Example: She uses a rubber-stamping technique in her art that is reminiscent of Chinese xylography.
One of those obscure little words that would be a good Jeopardy question haha. A little interesting fact about this word is that the oldest known printed works made by xylography are from Japan and China dating back to the 8th and 9th century. Anyway its really cold out but it is pretty, but its only 17 degrees out and will get colder as the week goes on from what I understand. A little too cold to go out and enjoy much of anything really. My doors on my truck were frozen this morning and only the passenger side would unlock for me to even start it lol. Boy I think the next week is going to be interesting for sure. Said good bye to my little girl at church today. She managed to get her dad to come with her so I didn't get to sit with her. Oh well, I'm not gonna let that shit get to me. I have some things to need to get done tonight but am going to enjoy a day off tomorrow...thank you Martin Luther King Jr! I hope y'all have a great night.

Today's word is CRUCIBLE.
Crucible [KROO-suh-bul] noun:
1: a vessel in which metals or other substances are heated to a very high temperature or melted
2: a severe test
3: a place or situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause or influence change or development
Example: After reading the book The Help and seeing the movie also I feel that the book was a crucible part of our deep south roots and letting the rest of the country know just how the black people were treated.
Ok so I've had a wonderful day hanging out with my daughter today. We went for a walk at the lake and found that someone has plowed the roads all over out by the lake and even the trails looks like they'd been shoved or dug through. We went down and talked to a friend of mine at one of the local tattoo peircing places about the ear peircing she wants done and wasn't time this time but she'll get it done this summer. I was going to pay for it for her birthday but I'll have to find her something else now to send her. No worries. Then we came home and made beef fajitas for dinner and wow they were really good. I hope y'all have had a wonderful Saturday...and it was warmer where ever you are! Night all

Today's word is THOLE.
Thole [THOHL] verb: endure
Example: She was hopeful that if she tholed his boorish stories that there was something more to him underneath it all, so she was resolved to listen and find out.
Very cool, this is one of the oldest words in the English language. It existed in Middle English in its current form and in Old English as tholian. In modern times it tholes only in the corners of England's northern dialects. It has the same origin as tolerate and both come from the Greek word tlenai meaning to bear. I really am enjoying learning not only new words...well in this case an old word...but the origin and where they came from. Language is pretty incredible. So it snowed here today, about 5 inches or so in town and more out on the south and north sides of the island. They say we might get more tonight then tomorrow, mixed rain and snow then its gonna get really friggin cold! My baby girl is gonna come for dinner tomorrow for the last time until summer. I think she got her first experience driving in the snow today. I was slipping and sliding everywhere today even with 4wheel drive. Man people sure are stupid sometimes! I almost had some stupid ass slide backwards into me going up the hill to where I work! I was so freakin mad and shaking by the time I got back to work after lunch, it took me a good 20 minutes to calm down. I don't think I'm gonna go anywhere but to rent some videos tomorrow with my little girl. Holy shit the roads are bad even after they finally plowed a lot of them. Ok winter can be over now!!! I hope y'all have a great night and a fabulous weekend
