Sir........may I pet your Caiman?

Errant thoughts from an unusually cold Sunday:

A new word: Meanderthal: one who clutches a cellphone to his/her head, focused on the conversation and meandering aimlessly across traffic (cars or foot). I like!!

Recent FYE scavenging: music from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “9 ½ Weeks”
The first is just a bit of cotton candy fluff, both theatrically and musically speaking ‒ look for no serious messages in this one, it’s just a silly good time. It has some really nice covers, including “Feels like Home” (Bonnie Raitt?) and “Let’s Stay Together” (Al Green) as well as “Follow You Down” (Gin Blossoms). And, from Chantal Kreviazuk, a song that captures my perspective on new beginnings and a new year:

“I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I want to do
Is spread my wings and fly……….”

Finally, I picked up “9 ½ Weeks” out of curiosity ‒ remembered the movie, thought it was pretty hot and wondered if the music was too.

“Slave to Love” by Bryan Ferry, and more by Joe Cocker, Corey Hart and the Eurythmics.

There was music in 9 1/2 weeks? lol

Elizabeth: How did you know? How did you know I'd respond to you the way I have?

John: I saw myself in you.

I'm amazed you remember that exchange so well! wow......

Mickey Rourke delivered that line with that calm, controlled yet drop-dead sexy voice of his, and absolutely rocked my tender little psyche. <lol> Never quite been the same since.
He made "you had me at hello" pale into insignificance....

Best of luck to you with your tri's. I've really enjoyed following your blog and will miss it.

I confess I looked up 9 1/2 weeks just to see what music was on the soundtrack and saw a couple quotes from the movie. When I saw that exchange I remembered it so clearly. That movie 'opened' my eyes quite a bit. TOTALLY agree that versus "you had me at hello", there is no comparison.

Factoid: I introduced myself to Mickey Rourke in an airport a couple 5 years after after the movie had come out. He exuded that animal sexuality but seemed pained - I think it was in that time when his mellon was being pummeled from boxing. He had quite a scar aross his head also ... he also had a buzzcut.

Can you imagine Prince crawling all over Kim Basinger??? whew

Meanderthal. That is pure genius. Been years since I've seen 9 1/2 weeks. I'll have to revisit that one. I've been a Mickey Rourke fan since he played a bit part in Body Heat. And yes his role in Barfly is one of his signiture roles, but he was also outstanding in Diner and was also quite good in a supporting role in The Rain Maker.

And by the way, thanks for dropping my blog. tallrider7
