HOT SPAM

No, I am not talking about the kind in a can you eat. I am talking about the kind where in a group someone begins a thread, and then continues to post one word or two word replies, for page after page all at the same time.

Yes, this is a very touchey point with me. Why? I don't run this site, I don't partake, I am not even in the groups where they do it, so you ask, WHY should I or would I care.

Here is the answer:

A machine, is a machine, it can function only as fast as it is designed to do. A wheel can only turn as fast as the axel lets its.( I am not mechanically inclined, I hope it's the axel!)

Get the point. A computer can only process information so fast. When it is FLOODED with thousands of posts all at one time it virtually slows the system down to a crawl, making it take DAYS for your replies to show up.

People only look at ONE or TWO group that are doing this. They apparently have not considered the fact that there are over a million users on this site, and if even half of them set up ONE spam thread it would cripple this site totally, in fact at some points it has done just that, and taken several days for a post to show up.

When these people set up spam threads, it is for ONE purpose. To be notice, to arrive on the most active group list, and to get their picture posted as most active posters in the last 30 days. Some groups have actually posted in the original thread, "please spam so we can get to the front" "Please spam so we can have the most posts". "please spam so we can be first as most active". Some spam posts have over 1,500 posts in a short time by just two people.

Well, for my two cents worth, if you had to get to any of those places by running spam threads, and usually more than ONE, the count and position are FALSE.

Just because you spent half hour or hour posting one or two words for 3,4 or 5 or 15 pages, does not mean you are an active group, or people are participating at that rate, it is a false read and people who "think" they may be interested in joining find out when they get there, it isn't what they thought, and leave.

If anyone is so ridiculously childish that they have to stamp their feet, everyone has to play nicely by their rules, they really need to get a life and grow up.

How freaking important is it to anyone to be NUMBER ONE on a SEX SITE. How does it affect your overall LIFE, your personal being and existence. Does it make your life easier? richer? Are you so starved for attention that even adverse attention is acceptable?

Do you not realize how lame, stupid, childish and ignorant you appear running these things all in the name of "FUN" Well, fun for who? YOU, your group?. It certainly isn't fun for others IN your group that do not participate, its boring. It isn't fun for the rest of the site membership sitting around waiting for their posts to post, while yours are stuck in the computer being chewed up and digested, and posts as crap.

If the fields were removed, and didn't count for anything, then those who love this great idea of spam could run it in their groups and no one would give a damn, except it STILL WILL SLOW THE SITE DOWN. You can bet they wouldn't find a reason to spam any more either, it would cease to be such fun.

If the fields of most active group, most active poster, were REMOVED from the group page, you would watch the number of posts drop drastically, the most active groups would certainly change positions.

If the groups were listed alphabetically, or by genre, WITHOUT listing the number of posts in them, people could go and find out if they wanted to join or not by reading the group description.

You would be amazed how much faster, smoother the system would run, if all the crap were removed.

You can't complain about how slow the system is, how it does not work, when YOU the members are a large part of WHY it is the way it is. You are the cause, you can also be part of the CURE.

Amen!!! to the idea of it being a childish ego trip for a moderator to want to run a site for one's own "fun". And... it's a look into a person's self-esteem to see the quick entry of short repetitive posts. But.... maybe the exercise of immaturity is a step towards getting a healthy mind - let's hope that there's some good to come of it for the posting person. OHD

I so agree with Lady,I think its a purely selfish exercise to get noticed, and it has nothing to do with jealousy like some people think. Is spamming really fair to others that make good quality posts V quantity??????
