Darkness holds the Lady fair,
Walking through the night,
In the shadows stalks a phantom,
Thinking, "What a lovely sight".

Chill breath on her tender shoulder,
Causes her to flee,
The woods themselves, they seem to hold her,
In the blackness, none can see.

Screaming shrilly for a rescue,
But her voice, it seems to die,
In the world of dark and terror,
Nothing hears her stricken cry.

As she flees through trees and bushes,
In a vain attempt to hide,
All the creatures of the forest,
Watch her pass, and turn aside.

In the flight for her survival,
Down the deadly cliff she flies,
Ending all the hopes in her life,
Smiles, Laughter or last goodbyes.

Winds all whisper of her passing,
Asking what caused death this night,
Across the lands in foggy quiet,
All the creatures hide from sight.
