What is it...

My job is very important to me. I like what I do, where I'm at, and the people I work with. I don't wake up in the morning and dread going into work (even though I'm not a morning person). I don't mind staying late every now and then. It really is great!

I am the type of person who gives it her all. I try my best every day. Well, almost every day. There have been a few times where I went into work after a looong night of drinking and just wasn't up to the challenge, but that doesn't happen often! Anyway, I do try and I think I do a damn good job. It's not that I do anything super awesome above-and-beyond, I just to my job to the best of my ability.

While it's nice to hear that I'm doing a good job now and then, it's not something I need to hear all the time. I know I am appreciated and that's good enough for me.

Here's the thing though... Lately I have been hearing that many other people in my company think very highly of me. It seems that they think I am simply amazing. This scares me soooo much! I wonder what they think I'm doing. I wonder if they think I'm doing spectacular things that I'm not really doing. I wonder if their admiration is under false pretenses. I would hate to let everyone down!

Do you ever wonder why it is someone thinks highly of you? Are you afraid the admiration is undeserved? Are you afraid you're going to let that person down?

So long as it's from a genuine person I wouldn't worry too much about whether the praise is deserved, people don't tend to go around singing your praises unless you've done something to deserve it.

Now's the time to be asking for a rasie! lol

To my knowledge, I've never been highly admired. I do a great job as an IT guy, but I think it all goes unnoticed...

A raise - right! Perfect timing! Why didn't I think of that?

I bet more people notice than you realize! In my line of work - and I'd imagine it holds true for IT as well - you know you're doing a good job when people don't notice you!
