To Spite a Hedache

Have you ever had one of those really bad headaches? You know, the kind that throb and cause your sight to go in and out? Not a migraine, just a terrible headache. The kind where it doesn't matter how much aspirin or Ibuprofen you gulp down, it just keeps right on throbbing without a care in the world?

You lay down, thinking you can sleep it off. That doesn't work because it's very difficult to fall asleep when there's a jackhammer in your skull. You start drinking water by the gallon, thinking maybe you're just dehydrated. Pretty soon you're in the bathroom pissing like a racehorse (and your head is still pounding). There's absolutely NOTHING you can do to even calm down this pain.

Have you ever experienced a headache like this? Have you ever been so frustrated by a headache that just won't go away that you begin to do things just to spite your headache? You put in some rockin' music and turn it up really loud with the idea that the pulsing in your head will coincide with the beat of the music and they will cancel each other out (or your headache won't be able to compete and just give up).

Yeah, I had one of those yesterday. As a last resort I tried the rockin' out method, and I think it actually helped!

I can get some really bad headaches at times. Actually I've been getting them much more often the past few weeks. Must be the stress of this site and blogging.

I definitely don't do anything to spite the headache. I don't want to anger it. Best thing I can do is lie down in a dark room with no sound and cover my eyes with something very cool. That doesn't help so much but it doesn't get any worse normally.

Mine normally occur with a sharp pain right above my right eyeball and goes all the way back to my neck. Those are the ones I know are going to be bad. Twice I've had it so bad that I seriously thought I was going to have to call an ambulance before my head exploded.

Getting frustrated at a headache just makes it worse. I know it's hard not to but if you can just try to clear your head of everything(much easier for me) then you can try to relax and pray it goes away.

I can't say that it's ever happened to me... Even w/ a migraine, I just go to sleep. I'll keep this in mind for next time though!
