Feast vs. Famine

*YAWN*

- stretch! -

Man, I don't know what my problem has been lately, but I am tired! No energy. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

Last night I sat on the couch when I got home from work and fell right asleep. The next thing I knew it was morning (not even early morning)! I had plans with friends last night, too! I think it's time for me to step back for some alone time...

It seems that things run in cycles - I'm either really busy with lots going on or I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs, waiting for something - anything - to happen. Where's the happy medium?

I don't like to have so many plans that my schedule is booked up more than a week in advance - I end up feeling like a chicken with my head cut off! It's not exactly great to sit here staring at a completely open calender, either, but I think I prefer an empty calender to a full one - gives me the freedom to do what I want whenever the mood hits.

I'm not a big fan of planning. I used to have nearly every detail of my life planned out, and quickly found that things just don't work that way. Things rarely go according to plan, and I now expect that. If I do make plans then I try to keep them as general as possible. I build in flexibility.

What kind of person are you? Are you someone who has to have every detail noted on an itinerary or do you tend to fly by the seat of your pants? Do you feel trapped by plans, or are they a comfort to you?

Since work seems to be all about planning and keeping a tight schedule, when it comes to my private life I tend to keep things more flexible. Making loose plans occasionally, with options open. If I want to spend time with someone we'll just say let's do something this week end. If it's nice we can go canoing or something outdoorsy. If it's nasty we can go see a movie or to a concert. All very loosely made. Too many plans make me feel trapped or obligated. I don't like that feeling and surely don't like any one to feel trapped or obligated to spend time with me because it was "scheduled".

I suck at planning. I use to make out lists for things I needed at the store only to lose the list or completely ignore it.

In my work I am as meticulous, thorough and methodical as anyone can be. [Not that I have a choice, I really have to be]. In my personal life, I like to balance that out. I like to decide things on the spur of the moment, rarely plan vacations and have a totally laid back attitude.

I take life as it comes I never plan for tomorrow what I can do today beside who knows if you'll be here tomorrow so why plan for it.

Throw out the calender and lets run off to Hawaii together and sip coconut drinks on the beach and watch the ocean waves.....

Hmm oh wait that would require planning wouldn't it? Oh well

It depends on the situation. Like planning for a vaction, however I do like the idea of not planning and just going with the spur of the moment thing.
I use to think that if I a calendar book and schedule everything my life would be better. NOT
So I just go with the flow and hope for the best.
BTW sorry I have been coming by your blog, I have been rather busy myself.
See you around hun, and smile!!

Carpe Diem

I like to have plans. I can be quite the procrastinator at times, so if I don't write down what I need to do, where I need to be, or who I need to see, it likely will not get done. However, there are times that despite having plans, it still doesn't get done.
I can understand having to write things down in order for them to get done. I have to do that at work all the time! Sometimes my mind is like a sieve!

Yep - it's best to keep plans to a minimum.

Seems like an oxymoron - liking detailed plans and flying by the seat of your pants.

Okay, some planning should be done for vacations - but just the minimum! Strict itineraries make me tense!

No need to apologize for your absence - I'm a bit behind myself! I'm just happy you visit at all!

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to assume. You know what they say about that...
