Help Me Make It Through The Night

The transition through my series of sad songs is complete. Yes, I'm ready to move on. That's the primary reason why I joined this site.

So here’s my song to you, my next great friend and lover, whoever you are. I’d love to have the opportunity to sing this song to you in person. I know the lyrics fairly well and won’t need a Karaoke prompter. It is one of my favorite ‘Serenade the Ladies’ songs on Karaoke nights. But I yearn to sing it personally and privately to someone who is or is about to become my lover.

Help Me Make It Through The Night ‒ Willie Nelson

Take the ribbons from your hair
Shake em loose and let em fall
Lying soft against your skin
Like the shadows on the wall.

Come and lay down by my side
Till the early morning’s light
All I’m taking is your time
Help me make it through the night.

I don’t care what’s right or wrong
I won’t try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
For tonight I need a friend.

Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow’s out of sight
It's so sad to be alone.
Help me make it through the night.

How about that. Unlike in my previous posts, no annotated lyrics. I think the song speaks for itself. I’m looking for that special lover. I'm ready, willing, and a tad dangerous. Are you out there?
