Humu Humu Nuku Nuku a Puaa

Humu Humu Nuku Nuku a Puaa

Like most typical Hawauian words all vowels are sounded out distinctly and almost never slurred together. So that tail end part is pronounced...
ah poo ah ah

If your chores ever involve feeding these by hand watch yourself around the larger ones as they can easily unintentionaly take out a sizable chunk of your finger in a single chomp.

It deals with stressed "attempted capture" situations in a manner somewhat similar the land reptile the Puff Adder. But instead of inflating itself full of atmospheric gassses to wedge itself between rocks it instead uses it's trigger-like and quite powerful dorsal fin to do the wedging.

An old friend thought that it bore some resemblance to Jimi Hendrix so he called it a Hendrix Fish. In english it is usually referred to as a Picasso trigger fish. I actually think it's coloring and design style more closely mimicks that of Wassilly Knainsk or of Marc Chagall but I think 'picasso trigger' rolls off the tongue slightly easier and is a more memroble name.

That's what she said.

sorry. I just figured a comment like that was simply begging for a response like that.

( also, just ask her,..that is exactly what she'll say! )

The Picasso Trigger is my favorite fish, both for its shape (I like to think it has some of that weird 4D facial perspective that Picasso captured so well) and for its colors, not to mention the outlandishly long Hawaiian name. I believe it is also Hawaii's Official State Fish.

Have you had a finger taken off by one of those?
