"Cocks inNames"&Post Punk District of 'Colombia'

On a whimsical whim my modality of the day, which can be characterised as being "longwindedly rambling" elected (demokratically) that I make a whole posting out of my epic sized response to the cockmerollme's comment in my last post.

Cockme wrote...

Ministry has a new album coming out and touring with al Jorgenson's Revolting Cocks.

They will be in DC soon, at the 9:30 club.

I am massivly excited about that.

So going.

This serves well to illustrate my ignorance of both Jourgensen and you cockme.

I had no clue he had anything to do with the Revolting Cocks which was more of a second wave American Punk/cum Industrial outfit than Ministry would ever be considered wasn't it?

About the only thing I had awareness of jourgensen being involved with aside from Ministry was his 1000 Homo DJ's project. Which , much like Ween's Poopship Destroyer, I had ranked rather highly on my "favorite band names or song titles" listing.

My songwriting/composing brother (not by blood) and I had a project for awhile called Stool Sample which incorporated the sampling of actual flatulence sounds which were then assembled with a digital audio workstation to create hard edged undergruond dance club type music. The LA earthquake of '94 put that project on hold where it still remains. That partner of mine, who was a bonafide starving artsit back then, is now raking bucks bigtime doing music for Nike ads and others like that.

I am a walking zombie today. Ups at the Butt Crack of Noon. If my father were aound he'd have started vacuuming the house hours ago just to wake me up. His depression era sensibilities can't imagine there simply being no tangible "time clock" to punch. And he is a man of his era. And there is nothing really wrong with being that either.

Don't get me wrong I've got a schedule. It's just not one which is so obtrusively "in your face". It's been cleverly blended in to the background. And if looking with the jaundiced eye of a staunch traditionalist you'd surely miss it entirely. But when my father ever needs my assistance in a real way he does then notice how damn punctual I really am.

So he now knows better now than to again insinuate his percieved view of me as lord of lords of all slothdom. Although sometimes just for my own internal laughter I play up looking that way to him to the highest degree of ridiculosity possible.

I was in DC in the summer of '83 I think. The sense that it was humid is one that will not leave me. It was for an advertining convention and my schools advertising club (we had no program for it at UCSB so we were all self taught) Our campagn for "The Coffee Achievers" concept won 1st place in our US southwestern division so the top 5 ranking club members won a free all expenses paid to the finals of the contest at a national Ad convention in DC. I didn't really give too much of a shit about going except to party and not worry about paying for it. Helped write and perform the campaigns theme music and did all the visual design/artwork for it.

The Smithsonian was so huge you'd need a week to get throught the entirety of it. Museumwise I"d call DC exhausting. Too much to take in in a short amount of time in any realistic or useful way. After three or four days of freeswinging frivolity I was so burned out by the time the others I went with got around to going out to the local punk clubs and such (it was the early 80's) that I stayed home to simply catch up on sleep.

That period of my life was somewhat of a dark one. This darkness came about due to the fact that I was still virginal and it was the ominously looming spectre of this fact which indeed cast it's pervasively hideous black shadow over the full fabric of my being.

But luckily at that point I was much closer to the end of that seemingly terminal nightmare than I realized. And that shadow was soon robbed of its very real capacity to make me feel as if life itself was not worth living.

And on the general "cock as part of the band name theme" Wasn't there also a somewhat prominent brit Punk band called the Buzzcocks? I think they were truly contemporarie of the Sex Pistols if I'm recalling my punk history correct.

80's band which just associatively emerged into the mental screen's field of view...Throbbing Gristle

Buzzcocks were great... I think they toured not to long ago.

"I don't mind" and "Orgasim addict" are my faves.

I have few good qualities, but 80's Left of the Dial stuff is all mine.

I am trying to think of more "Cock" bands.

LET'S GO METS!!!

Hi Santalianna,

No apologies necessary. Just know that you and your ethereal emeralds are always welcome to drop by to say whatever you feel even if it's just a little peep. 'Cause you know I won't luvzya any less for sometimes having a wiped out pea soup brain.

Since you liked the pale blue I made this little panel-page out of lighter shades of emerald green in honor of your wondrous eyeballs.

PS. if you want to use that blue yourself the geek code number for it is CCFFFF

So the Buzzcocks have toured recently? That's amazing considering they had their hey day like 25 years ago or something. But it's great to hear that a punk band from so long ago would still have the wherewithall to really do that. I usually assume that most of those original hardcore punks are dead now for one reason or another.

hey, it's the No Holes Bard!

My grandma likes that band name too.

So Bard hows that 36 hour shift your pulling at the twister shelter factory? And are you really adapting Deliverance to be a stage play? Will that be a musical with dance numbers to boot or just a straightforward stage adaptation?

Making it into a musical could really add quite a twist to it! But I'll look forward to whatever it is that you're doing.
