9/11 - 343 - revisited

With the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York City approaching fast; I had the opportunity to view an art exhibit of ground zero photographs.

The exhibit was stunning with poster sized photographs of ground zero. I found myself in awe of the total devastation that had taken place. I was speechless and with each new photo, I felt a new shiver go up my spine and twist my gut. The loss of life was tremendous and you could feel the pain of those that lost their lives.

When I finally made it to the last photo, all I could manage to say is, "Why?" As a firefighter, I lost 343 brothers and sisters that day. Each and everyone of them is a HERO in my book. If they were alive, each one would say, "I was just doing my job." Even though it has been five years, it still hurts deeply to see those photographs.

There is now a movie out there about that day. I personally can not bring myself to go and see.

Please, Please, Do Not forget those who died on that September day.
