"the pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache"

"... the pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache"

It's a lyric from a song by The Police. It's from the song "Synchronicity 2" and it happens to be one of my favorite song lyrics.

I think it's a great description of annoyance, aggravation, and tension. And so, I find it a very appropriate way to describe my feeling with AdultFriendFinder (or whichever "affiliate" sites that you might be reading this on!) lately. I've pretty much had it with the service on this site.

I'm not bashing the site itself, don't get me wrong. I've had a very positive experience overall. In fact, WAY more positive than I ever would have expected. I've met a few people from this site and have had some wonderful encounters with individuals. Honestly, in terms of "success" on this site, I consider myself very fortunate. I've made some cyber-friends and some real life friends all thanks to this site.

However, I am having some serious issues with the administration of this site. I think things are getting way out of control -- especially in terms of the magazine.

Things do not work efficiently -- plain and simple. Posts are rejected for no valid reason, yet others that are clearly a violation of their own Terms/Conditions of service manage to get posted. When a review is requested, nothing is done to remedy the situation.

Turnaround time is ridiculous. There's no legitimate reason why a post takes hours to appear on the magazine. A few minutes I can understand, but several hours is absurd.

You can't post pictures of animals. There's a zero tolerance policy on that. That's considered inappropriate. I understand that. A sex-oriented site and the appearance of animals may be seen as encouraging Bestiality. Makes sense. However... what does not make sense is why it's inappropriate for me to post a picture of me walking my dog, but it's somehow okay to make post on the advice lines about whether or not you've ever let a dog fuck you. THAT is what gets my goat! If you're going to have rules, then enforce them. Period. Don't have two sets of rules. Also, if the posts are supposed to be "reviewed", then how in the hell did a post about bestiality make it past the "review board"?

Mail service is also inefficient. I can't tell you how many times I've had the "New Message" indicator on the home page tell me I have mail waiting for me, yet when I go to check the messages there is nothing there. Huh?

I recently did the Google search thing that others have mentioned. I knew my profile would appear on other sites, but I didn't realize how many other sites. I was a little shocked by that. I was especially shocked to find out I have a profile on Lesbian Personals. What the fuck...??

I know this entry is basically a piss and moan entry, but I really don't care at this point.

The way this site runs, there's no way I could justify paying a monthly fee. I demand more for my money.

Interestingly enough, I'm not one of those people who cry because they pay $20 - $30 a month and can't get laid. Like their $20.00 somehow gives them freedom to fuck whenever they want. I'm not sure what the going rate on prostitutes is these days, but I think they'd want a little more than twenty bucks! My experiences with women on this site have been quite positive. Some rejections of course, but at least I've had success -- which is more than plenty of others can say!

What I do demand for my monthly fee is good service on the site. For the amount of people paying good money to this site, it should at least function smoothly. It doesn't -- and it's very frustrating. It's almost like trying to drive a car when the engine keeps stalling.

And so, I can't see myself paying one more dollar to this site until they get their shit together.

I don't think the trade-off is worth it right now. Sure, by paying my fee I get to browse profiles, send messages, vote on "dirty" pictures, and look at all the amateur porn (and I mean amateur with a capital A ) that I want to. But it's not worth it to me. I'd rather have the bugs eliminated and the magazine section working like it should be working.

So... as of this weekend, I'll be one of those Standard Members. Which is fine with me since I'll be spending most of my time on the Magazine anyway. And as far as I know, you don't have to pay for that.
