Two Headed Monster

As the NBA season ended last June, the local newspapers and many of the fans salivated over the prospect of signing either Michael Redd or Ray Allen to play along side of LaBron James. On my sports blog and in running debates lodged online with local sportswriters, I listed several reasons why Larry Hughes would have a greater impact on the Cavaliers than either of the other 2-gaurds on the market. Although the 2005-2006 NBA season is just 11 games old, there are few who at this point would argue that I was not right in my assessment of the top five 2-gaurds in last summer’s free agent market. The Cavaliers have a two-headed monster that is only going to get fiercer as time goes on. I even heard a member of the national media refer to Hughes as the Scottie Pippen to young King James (the modern Michael Jordan). That is high praise for the guy that was generally regarded as, the number four shooting guard in most recent free agent period.
