Here's a gift for two of my Blogland Heroes!

I am quite the fan of singer Lucie Silvas. She has one song in particular that I've come to think of as my private theme song. "Like You Love Me," spoke to my heart from the first time I heard it's soaring, powerful tune and pleading lyrics. Anyone who's dealt with depression or other similar illnesses would likely see themselves in this song.

When I read posts by two of my Blogland friends and heroes yesterday, this song immediately came to mind.

So, beloved friends Passion247000 and BiPolyBabe, this is for you both with many warm hugs from me!

Like You Love Me

by Lucie Silvas

It's not every day you wake up,
And admit who you really are.
Most days its easier to shut yourself up,
And never look that far.

This is me, uncovered.
What I hid behind the door.
And everything she says angers,
I'm apologizing for.

Do you see her when you see me?
Understand her insecurities?
And accept the part she plays in me?
Could you love her like you love me?

I'd rather be who you think I am,
See myself through your eyes.
'Cause the mirror I use can be too harsh,
And I want it to tell me lies.

So today I'll be brave and I'll face myself,
Show you who I really am.
'Cause wherever I go she will follow me.
Can you reach out for her hand?

Do you see her when you see me?
Understand her insecurities?
Oh, and accept the part she plays in me?
Could you love her like you love me?

I'm not perfect but I try to be.
Oh, could you really have the whole of me?
Sometimes what you get isn't what you see.
Could you believe in her, like you believe in me?

Do you love her?
Oh, do you see her when you see me?
Understand her insecurities?
Oh, and accept the part she plays in me?
Could you love her?
Do you see her when you see me?
Understand her insecurities?
Oh, and accept the part she plays in me?
Could you love her like you love me?

I am truly honored that you dedicated this to me. I try to tell the truth--every day--to myself about who I am and then face my fear of being known as the particular fruit basket I am out in the world, at least in this world.

Thank you so much for acknowledging my efforts at honesty and at accepting who I am.

I genuinely appreciate your joining me on this journey and similarly revealing yourself.

Anytime, dearest BPB.

You are such a powerful woman with a true gift for the written word. And candor can be the sexiest and the most enlightening thing in this world! I know--and saw for myself on your blog today--not everyone gets that "enlightenment" from it. But I do. Believe it. And I love you for coming out along with the rest of us and just saying, "This is me. I work hard to be the best human being I can be. Take me for all I am, or leave me the fuck alone!"
