Hawaii: Dec 22-28
Hawaii: Dec 22-28
Well, on the morning of the 22nd, I decided to skip out on the Christmas thing here in frosty Edmonton and take off at a moments notice to Oahu, Honolulu, Waikiki. I made the flight and accommodation plans at 6am, and was on a plane at 2pm. So those of you who wonder how spontaneous I really am, here is a prime example! Course, I missed Christmas with Mom and Dad (my brother was not coming in from Victoria, BC till the 6th) - which caused some problems, and going alone was kinda hard - but what a time I had.
I couldn't possibly list all the stuff I did while I was there, suffice it to say it was about 28-30 degrees celcius each day, overnight lows of 21 degrees, and about 85% humidity. Clear and blue skies each day, and not a spot of rain, even though the clouds rolled in 3 of the nights I was there. I stayed in the Ohana Waikiki Surf, about a block or so from the beach, on the 12th floor with a great view. I enjoyed all the sights, shopping, nightlife, and beachtime I could in the 7 days I was there....and have quite a tan/burn right now...haha.
Some of the activities I went on were: Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Catamaran sails, swiiming in the green-blue water, hiking the volcano (Diamond Head), seeing the USS Mighty Mo Battleship museum, and the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbour, dancing, sunning myself like a lizard, drinking at Dukes beach bar, and much more.
I took a load of pics I will post when I have the chance to scan them. Now its back to school on the 3rd, and back into the work / school life for me. Reality sets in...sux. I had considered staying out there and joining the Marines...but they found out I had anxiety issues and called me a Section 8 (no go on that try)...ahh well.
More to write later.
