Why should I list Herpes in my Profile?

A lot of people ask me this.
It does cut down on the number of responses. But the people who do respond know upfront. In fact most of them also have herpes and contact me because I'm out in the open.
I've made a lot of friends since posting a profile with Herpes posted in the title.
I also weeded out a lot of people who would have ultimately rejected me once they found out. This has proven to be the best approach.I've made a lot of friends, and I haven't given anyone any unpleasant surprises.

I will continue to post Herpes in my profile.

I think that if someone has something like herpes, they should list it in their profile. It's the responsible thing to do. From what I've been told, most people with herpes wouldn't wish it on their worst enemy. I actually do worry about meeting someone who either doesn't know he's carrying, or, resents the fact he has it so much, he's out to give it to everyone he can.

Couldn't be more in agreement!! I know people who are gifted and/or HIV+ who don't tell and DON'T USE PROTECTION!! This should be a prosecutable felony in every part of our country with STIFF (no pun intended) penalties from 5years whole time to Natural Life.

You know, the funny thing is that I have found since including the H-factor in my intro, I've gotten MORE responses from people! It's like with that out of the way, both parties are on equal footing with each other, and discussion can actually move forward to, "Hi, how are you?" As an aside, and in response to havasu's concerns above, many states (including Illinois) actually DO have the criminal charge of "Criminal Transmission of HIV." So you don't necessarily have to start the petition, havasu! lol
