Where Does He Get This Stuff?

I often receive comments from people asking where I get my ideas.

Okay, so nobody really asked. But that never stopped me before.

So where do get my ideas?

- "Scenes From a Hat": If you're a fan of "Whose Line...", you know this one. My version is a baseball cap in the back corner of my shop. When I have an idea for a post that needs a little more development, I write it on a slip of paper an drop it in the hat. When the well runs dry, I reach into the hat and see what happens. For several months, the only piece of paper in the hat read, "the Beatles." Does that explain anything?

- Nature: There is nothing that stirs my creative juices like a nice walk in the woods, especially when accompanied by an anonymous hitchhiker, a bundle of rope and a shovel. Good times; good times.

- Suggestions: People offer many suggestions. The most popular one involves an act that is, for me, physically impossible. I don't have that kind of length, and I think it would be difficult to remain flexible enough to reach that orifice were I actually able to perform the suggested action.

- Inner voices: You know those inner voices that warn you when you are approaching imminent danger? My inner voice talks in puns, and makes up wierd lyrics to classic rock songs.

Inspiration is all around. So is oxygen. Once you understand that statement, that'll be one of us.

What's wrong with good old fashioned plagiarism - it works for me.

Well let me ask you - what's wrong with good old fashioned plagarism? It works for me.

Besides, I'm more of the entreprenurial type - I have to make stuff up.
