BIRD IN A TARNISHED CAGE
By:

Out there is where freedom lies
Beyond the walls of her cage
Where people come and go freely
Out where the sun shines and the wind
Flows through the trees without a care
As it skips softly in the grass

Out there is life waiting to begin again
Those she loves and longs to be with
In a home that now is incomplete
While she sits in her cage alone

Out there is the laughter of children
The touch of a man that she loves
The sound of her life on a warm evening
Like the melody of a favorite tune

One day soon the cage door will open
And she’ll fly as quick as she can
Out there she’ll be with her loved ones
To begin life again, now free

Out there with the sun and the wind
In a home that is once more complete
And she’ll never forget what it was like
As a bird in a tarnished cage
