Jury Duty

Jury Duty

I got to spend the day in the Van Nuys Jury Pool Room yesterday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and met an elderly lady named Mary and a spunky middle aged afro-American lady named Jackie. Once we got to talking I learned that Mary was a Real Estate Agent and we both had, at one time, engaged in similar hobbies of embroidery, knitting and crocheting. I never found out what Jackie did, but she kept me and Mary laughing with her comments through out the day.

Have you ever met someone under some unusual circumstances and found common ground like this?

Thankfully I was not picked to serve on a jury-so I need not go back for at least one year. But the day was not as much of a drag as I had thought it would be.

Happens all the time. Standing in lines at the bank or grocery, watching a childs football game, sitting in an anteroom at the courthouse.... All ya gotta do is engage folks.

Happens all the time with me too. I guess that I'm just a talkative person. Some of my friends can't understand how I can begin talking to a total stranger and reach a point in our conversation that makes it seem to outsiders that we've known one another for a long time.

Friendliness begats frienliness, I guess ...

Peace and Love,
Turq
