The Hill

I have been living in my development for 14 years now. I knew about the hill....I walk by it all the time....and always wondered why they put this huge hill in the back of townhomes in front of the pool. I know that in the winter, kids love it for the safe sleigh riding.

At the pool yesterday, someone asked me if I watch fireworks from the hill. I had never thought of that. I usually catch some of them out my bedroom windows.

So last nite...I ventured up the hill...all the way to the top. This was not the best year to do that, because of cloud cover which kept all the smoke in the air from the home fireworks going on all around (which seem to have gotten amazingly professional these days). From the top of the hill, there is a 360 degree view of many, many different fireworks displays. It started with Poolesville Md in the distance, followed by another display across the river. Some of Leesburg's were viewable, as were Fairfax, Vienna and Herndon. Some of the people say on a clear year, you can even see DC in the distance.

Amazing. Right under my nose...and I didn't even know. Guess where I'll be again next 4th of July

How cool. I get to sit on my patio and watch them from the of the things I love about my little condo world. What a sweet reminder for life in general too...One never knows why the "hills" are put in our life's...sometimes we just have to climb them to find out.

I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn

You are so right Pixie....and I am so glad I took the climb. Usually I am already in for the night.....but this seems to be my year to venture forth and explore things

It is amazing that things like that are so often overlooked. Glad you found it!

We only had to step out back to see of the benefits of living on a hill.

Very nice indeed. And yes, I have very much overlooked the value of the hill
