Defining Relationships

I am almost 42 years old and dont think I know the definition of a relationship.

I believe that a relationship is when you meet someone, you hang out, you have fun, you have sex, you enjoy being with that person.

This is different from COMMITTMENT when thats the person you are committed to, the only one you spend time with, the only person you should be having sex with....get the picture?

Well, I get AdultFriendFinder mail all the time saying, "I am looking for someone to do things with, hang out with, have sex with, yadayadayadayada, but dont want a relationship"

Someone needs to explain to me then what a relationship is cos what they are looking for is what I say is 'a relationship'.

Relationship can mean many things on this site. I'm responsibly non-monogamous, so there are definitions for relationship in my lifestyle as well. Feel free to check out my blog and profile (just google apolybear)

I think many people (including myself) think committed relationship, when they see the term relationship. Your definition of relationship could be construed as a friendship with benefits - a true friendship that includes sex.

Firsttime, for many people obviously, a relationship is a commitment, semantics, Ta may toe, Ta mah toe.
Like you, a relationship is the hang out, talk, enjoy spending time together, and it can include sex.
Committment is the next level, monogamous sex, or whatever boundaries the 2 of you decide on, swinging, etc.
Perhaps on the site, the hanging out, talking, sex is in their mind: meeting at a place, having a drink, talking for 15 minutes, and then sex, and let's talk later and see if we want to do it again.

Relationship for me would involve a bit more time enjoyed together, and developing a friendship, familiarity, and a wonderful comfort level with each other. Not tieing each other down, but sharing thoughts and views, and "pal"ing around together.
The sexual relationship might be the initial attraction or develops over time, and makes the relationship that much more fun and interesting.
