Chat conflicts....

There comes a time when you finally decide that enough is enough...and I have reached that point...

It is rather ironic that if you were to take the chat out of cyber space, and place it in a real life situation, there would be endless restraining orders filed, law suits tried, and arrests made. There are laws in use to protect people from threats and harassment - laws which do not apply to chat forums. People are not as bold in their everyday lives...nor as rude, combative, and socially inept...as they are in public chatrooms, it seems. Most likely, the comfort that anonymity allows has encouraged this lack of self control/self discipline.

Sadly, this has caused many chatters to resort to fighting back, using the ignore button, or leaving the chatrooms altogether. I, myself, had considered leaving Love Doc's recently, but decided that I really enjoy conversation with the friends I have there, and will not be forced out. I have resolved to use the ignore function whenever necessary to keep from disrupting other's chat time, and reducing the likelihood of continuing a conflict that I have no desire to be involved with, in the first place.

I can only hope that the bullying and immature insults will eventually ebb, and people will behave with a measure of decorum...

Then we can get down to the more important matter of handing out advice laced with too much dry humor...

I haven't been in the LoveDocs room for a few weeks, so i'm not really sure what's been going on - but - wading through the usual bullshit I can sympathise with any woman who wants to use the iggy button...

P.S. just don't use it on me

for some reason, fatal cannot see my original post... so here it is again

I totally.. TOTALLY ... agree. I have an ongoing affair with my ignore button. LOL.. but yes, too many people use chat as a form of "therapy" for their many mental/social issues. There are many that hide behind the anonimity that the Internet has to offer, and use it to abuse, harrass, and otherwise brutalize people because of their own lack of self-worth. Perhaps they were bullied as children and/or adults, I don't know. But I do know that a good many people on this site are mentally ill time bombs just ticking away until they explode. Perhaps they should prescribe Thorazine with each membership? Just a thought...

Hmm...wondering how much I fit in there lol. For me, who has a hard time talking to people in real life, I find chat to be a real freedom from my physical shy restraints...Perhaps I let loose a little too much sometimes, and would hope someone tells me to shut up whenever I need it lol (hint hint). But your comments are well said...forward the advice and dry wit!!!
