Whoopty-fuckin'-doo for the 26th

Do you ever just wish you could go to sleep one evening and just sleep through the next day and wake up ready to go the next day? I did take tomorrow off of work so it could work out for me.

I hate my birthday. It is not because I am getting old. It is because I do not, as a rule, get to do anything that is a lot of fun. My daughters and I celebrated today but it was more a celebration for my youngest's birthday on Wednesday.

I did get to bake my own birthday cake. Carrot cake with lemon butter cream frosting anyone - I have plenty left over. I did get to cook a birthday dinner a day early too- balsamic chicken, honey glazed vegetables and broccoli. My daughters were kind enough to leave me the dishes for a present.

It has just been a really blah day.

Yum!, and why didn't you invite us all earlier?

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday - if I were closer, I'd sing it like Marilyn at least.

Awww Happy Birthday, Fallic!

Now me, I quit having birthdays. When I was in my early 40's I could claim dyslexia when revealing my age - that just won't work now.

And I love doing dishes - I would have done them for you (as your present, of course).

Sunney, I read your post earlier. I think you should have came over to Oregon and cooked a meal. I really loved your post.

playful, I have never done birthdays very well. It has always been a tumultuous time of year in my life.

asianlady, unfortunately there is no special someone for me right now. And the person that I do have a crush on lives about as far away from me in the US as it is possible to live. The story of my life.

thanks lil, I did all the dishes this morning. I hate using a dishwasher - call me a Luddite.

I love carrot cake.
Chicken sounds tasty too.
Today is my mum's bday too.
Don't feel bad.
No one sends me cards and I've never even had a party.
Just another day.
Mine is November 26.
Maybe one day we could meet in the middle on October 26th and share a cake.

Is that a balloon being busted?

Hi Jay, yes that is a ballon being busted.

What we will have to do is also invite red martini girl along too as she has the same problem as the two of us. September 26th is also my parents wedding aniversary (I was born on their 1st anniversary). It is my ex-inlaws anniversary and my ex sister-in-laws anniversary.

My Birthday is December 26th, talk about a let down...hehe, all the people are pooped from the Christmas festivities!

See, here's the problem, Fallic. If I cook for you, you'll be hopelessly in love with me. While that isn't a problem for me, doggie bags back to where you are may be a wee bit hard to come by, and I like my pots and pans... well... I could be persuaded... tell me, how is your cookware? You liked the post, hm? How much? Convinced?

Sunney, and who's to say that I am not already hopelessly in love with you? Yes the post impressed me: immensely.

My cookware is brand new Calphalon (my b'day present to me)since I like to cook with something that has substance to it. The old cookware was very good but just felt very flimsy in my hands. I have all the other necessaries too: Henckels knives, food processor, mixer, etc.

Hi playful, my mum's is on the 27th and she has the same problem. It must suck. The ubiquitous combination xmas and birthday gift is an absolute no/no to her. The same goes for "ringer" who is Dec 12th.

Fallic, it's not funny to tease Cinderella that you have her slipper, Sleeping Beauty that you may kiss her.

Calphalon, niiiiiice. I have Kitchen Craft Waterless, probably quite comparable, a few Henckels, although I got a bit broke before buying a whole set. I am minus a toaster, a mixer and a food processor...hmm...

Just out of curiosity, is the pic really you? You say in your profile red hair, but in the pic it looks brown or dark blond.

Sunney, I have a toaster, and a steamer, and crockpot too. This is almost like a Kenyan dowry negotiation. Next thing I know, I will be negotiating goats, chickens and cows with your family for you. (Don't laugh, I went to a wedding like that last year - it was amazing to behold and wild to listen to the swahili flying.)

The subject of the photo arises about once a month. No it is not me. I post this picture because it does resemble me and my interests. I am much more powerfully built through the upper body from years of sheet metal work.

I do this because of the fact that I coach girl's soccer and have a somewhat high profile in the local business and academic circles. Not all people are quite so understanding of a site like this as we are and I do not wish to put a local school district into a bad position when they have been very good to me.
