Vacation ideas

So, starting December 2nd, I have 6-8 weeks of paid vacation starting.

I need to get some really good ideas as to what to do with that kind of free time. I haven't had a block of time on my hands like this in 15 years.

I went back over my journals and calculated that I have averaged 62 hours per week during that time.

I know that I will be doing some fishing. Lake Perris is very close to my mum and dad's house so some bass fishing could be in order - my mum has big plans for me to fix some things around her house for her. Steelhead will be running in the Wilson River so that will a definite happening.

And of course, there is always baking Christmas cookies.

You could pop by Chicago, we may nearly be done cleaning up the rubble from the Blogger's Convention by that time.

are you looking for suggestions?

i was just reading your post A pity party for me and if you looked a bit deeper at that i feel pretty sure you could find some excellent ways to spend 6-8 weeks. (well, not pretty sure cause i have no idea about you or what you do except that i read in that post about the soccer team which i'm sure you found my remarks flippant about) so.. not sure why i am really replying but i've written this much, may as well go ahead now.

six to eight weeks? go accomplish something. fundraise and figure out what to do for the starving winter animals or run a motivational course for coaches in your area, organise a group to collect rubbish in the wilderness, or go off to uni and do a course and do the student things, or teach someone to read.

its not only your daughter growing up you know. we all have to keep growing.

and just to let you know. girls never stop needing their dads. and no man can replace them either.

hi slightly sexy,

Many of those are indeed good ideas and some of which I already have a lot of involvement: such as coaching clinics, and wilderness cleanup.

Feeding starving deer and elk is a no/no based around wilderness management. Nature has to take it's course to keep the population of the animals balanced: very hard but very true. It is very sad to see the animals hit the towns in eastern Oregon.

The fact is I am looking to have some serious fun for the first time in 15 years. Going to school will not be part of that. I had to work so hard getting my master's that I promised myself to never set foot on a college campus again.

There's serious fun in FL. Specifically, here.
