Looking for some great new music

Alright, now I know that there are some bloggers out there that have amazing hidden music that they hold onto.

I am looking to find some new bands or artists to check out and listen too. I am all encompassing in my love of music. Classical - bring on Julian Bream or John Williams on guitar. Jazz - I love the old school guys - Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis. Rock, , reggae, punk, even pop, I love it all.

But I am looking for something new. Last week I saw a great Mexican jazz/ /dance band called Ozomatli open for Los Lonely Boys and they rocked.

I also found a band called the Veils that is pretty amazing - I think they are out of New Zealand - their song Lavinia is one of my all time favourites. Sakrilej would probably know more about them.

So I am looking for some good ideas in music right now. Send suggestions...please

Have you checked out The Mars Volta? Heady stuff.

Or just come over to our little music jam/discussion session and hash with us: [post 70545]. Happy listening!

I'm all about new music, but one of my all-time favorite albums "Moontan" by Golden Earring (about 1975 I think) always ALWAYS makes me feel good about life, love and the pursuit of happiness.

Take a listen to the song "Vanilla Queen" where Barry sings ...

It couldn't be avoided
We were bound to meet
I knew you would drag me down
and toss me off my feet
Sweet moments of desire
Sweet moments of relief
You blew down my fences
You are natural make-believe

"Lil"

Moontan is excellent. I managed to get a copy with the banned album cover of the partially nude woman on it. That would figure, right?

Fallic...wouldn't you agree now that Lil is probably best without her album cover... probably best sleeveless too... just her vinyl showing in the moonlight?

Save Ferris and Reel Big Fish are classics that have been around forever, but stand up to the test of time. Throw in some Dance Hall Crashers and you have a veritable cornocopia of ska dance-ability. For a change of pace, there's always Queen Latifah's The Dana Owens Album. The woman has pipes to go with that classy smile. And then there's always Cake, which holds a special place in my heart and music collection. For a heavier, more sensual beat, Lords of Acid, Type O Negative and The E-rotics take my vote.

Hope some of those entertain you.

I ended up listening to some Jeff Buckley.

I did find Hot Hot Heat to my liking and also the Shins.

khaoskitty, I love the Lords of Acid. Dance Hall Crashers are great too. I'll have to check out some of the others.
