Dream a little dream

You know, when I was young, I never aspired to grow up to be a divorced father of two with a shitty job. It just never crossed my mind to think that things would not go my way in life. How about you?

I had a lot of dreams and I have even realized some. But in the great scheme of things, the achievement is a great joke - the summation of the phrase "be careful what you wish for".

I dreamed of getting my college degree and I did it but I went to college to ease the pain of my divorce and to eat up empty time.

I wanted children and I have two wonderful daughters (most of the time - they have their moments) who are everything a father could want but I paid a soul rending price for them.

Of course I also wanted a 1970 Mach I, to play guitar full time and a house on a river - and I didn't get those things.

I talk to my father every day as he is a compass for me. We talk about football, and my work. We talk about morals and ethics and the pursuit of happiness.

He watches and he observes: he hears and he listens: and not just to me or my sister. The one thing that my father now feels to be true is that he is glad he is not my age. He just does not see how a person can be happy in this day and age.

Life is an adventure...not all adventures are good, but they all teach us something, and then we go on with what we've learned. Good luck.

silhouette, cooking in the nude is dangerous. One's willy might get burned or scalded.

playful, good to hear from you again. It is a complex thing to meet one's owns expectations. Iknow that I had no plans that included any of the things that I have been through.
