Saturday Night's Alright For Sleeping

My kids live with me. Did you know that?

It’s more common than it used to be but it’s still pretty unusual. Their mom doesn’t have the temperament to take care of herself, let alone three teenagers. Kind of scary seeing it the “three teenagers” part in print.

Anyway, having the kids around presents some relationship challenges. First, there are around all the time so scheduling becomes and issue. Second, they are not little kids; it’s very difficult to keep things from them. They are not adults either so they don’t always understand what they know so I have some “splaining” to do sometimes.

The kids are at their mom’s today so naturally I slept until 11AM. Hey, I was up late last night. I would say that I was up late chatting with some hot babe but that would be lying and lying is wrong. (Can I day “hot babe” or is that too 80’s?” Actually, I was up late watching Battlestar Gallactica on TiVo. I think I get two nerd points for that.

Living with your kids is different that having them come over once a week. I did that for a while so I know whereof I speak. When they live with you sometimes you have to be their mom as well as their dad. And you have to have more furniture than just a bed, a couch, and a TV. You have to decorate too, and I’m just not gay enough to be good at that.

I know what some of you are thinking, “You’re a nerd, isn’t that just a few skippy tra-la-la’s from being gay?” I assure you, it is not. Have you ever seen a nerd’s apartment? You would not be able see any faux wall finishes, or the handmade window treatments behind the computers and audio equipment. Besides, even if I wanted to be gay, they won’t let me into the union because I don’t dress well enough.

But I digress.

There is a little town east of here where I believe they manufacture Italian restaurants and craft malls. I go there some weekends to try and find stuff for my house. You can’t meet girls at the craft mall though because girls don’t go to the craft mall alone. They go with their girlfriends, or their sisters, or worse yet, their mom. Sometimes they bring a man. Other than us nerds, these are the only men at the craft mall. It’s funny to watch them. The young guys still think that if they whine, pout, fold their arms, wait in the car, or whatever other stupid idea they comes to them; their girl will move more quickly through the mall. The older guys have realized that it’s hopeless and they start collecting Coca Cola memorabilia.

Well I got a couple winks from some AdultFriendFinder ladies so I think I’ll write some emails this evening. It’s just me and the cat tonight. (We nerds all have cats.) He’s a neutered male just like me. He’s getting a little bit too friendly this evening though; wants to walk on the keyboard. I hope he doesn’t think I’m gay.

But you sound like a very cool nerd. Ugh. "Cool." Is that word used any more? Maybe I'm a nerd, too? HA!!! Perish the freaking thought!

Be well,
lisa

Hey, guy, great stuff. I've done time in small towns, too, altho not quite to the tune of 10,000 people. You're still lucky, tho in that you're still young, and there are those women who seriously fantasize about well hung Black men. Here in Geezerworld I'll be lucky to get any action even if I was swingin' a bat... Have fun, and good luck
