I reply to every wink and message sent to me even if only to say 'Thanks but no thanks'.

I have sent out winks and messages but have only got replies for a few.

Is it just me, or is this the way things are these days?

I'm much the same...if someone writes to me, I reply..if only to say that I'm not interested...but I find that, if I make the initial contact, only about one in ten people reply at all. What confuses me, though, is when a lady replies to your note, you talk for a while and then she disappears..no explanation...I asume that for some reason, she is no longer interested, but I would wish that she would say that rather than merely disappearing.

I know the feeling...I got a reply from a woman giving me her personal email address and asking me to write to her there. I did. And guess what?
Absolutely nothing. What was the point.

I understand everything you are both saying. Can I also add another viewpoint? As a standard member I can only send so many replies per day. I have always tried to take the time to reply to every message. Unfortunately this means I fall behind and cant get around to replying as swiftly to those messages I actually want to reply to. I know the solution is to upgrade But these are early days and Im still contemplating my membership on the site. However, and no disrespect intended, a common problem a lot of females have mentioned to me, and I've experienced myself, is that there are an awful lot of guys who dont accept a polite 'no thank you' message. The fact that you have replied in some shape or form is taken as an indication that you are actually interested afterall. I've lost count of the number of messages that bounce back saying "ok....you dont want to chat.....but here's my private e-mail addy contact me there and lets see how things go."
But I do agree with the points you're both raising. Common courtesy does seem to be becoming a thing of the past!
