A Man Stood Upon The Parapet

A man stood upon the parapet looking down at the wreckage of his hopes and dreams and from his lips a song could be heard:

'I had it all, then I let it slip away, slip away, slip away and I let it slip away'

Singing this song he braced himself to launch himself into oblivion when suddenly by his side stood another man and he looked down at the wreckage of his hopes and dreams and linking arms with the first man from both their lips a song could be heard:

'I had it all, then I let it slip away, slip away, slip away and I let it slip away'

And suddenly another joined them and then another then another until for as far as the eyes could see from horizon to horizon stretched an unbroken line of men, of all shapes and sizes, of all colours and creeds and what bound them together was the desperation in their eyes, their linked arms as they looked down at the wreckage of their hopes and dreams and the song they sung together:

'I had it all, then I let it slip away, slip away, slip away and I let it slip away'

As quickly as the song of loneliness had started so it ended and awful stillness took hold as if the world braced itself for what was to happen next.

Once they tensed themselves.

Twice they tensed themselves

On the third all their pain would be gone.

And as they prepared for that awful reality suddenly behind them they heard the sound of women ‒ their women ‒ sobbing, watching helpless, unable to comprehend why it had come to this but unable to react in time.

And then
stepped forward from the throng and walking up to the first man smiled at him and opening her arms wide said ‘Come home love.’

And in that solitary act the mood changed.

The man stepped down from the parapet, walked into the embrace of his angel as did all the others and suddenly he was home.

Happy 4th everybody.

Nice one Dusty. Sometimes we can't see what we have through the fog of what we don't have.

Nice story Dusty, it won't be long until Angel is flying again. I'm hoping for c;ear skies and unlimited visibility at 9am EDT on July 4th. Those booms they will hear in Virginia Beach will not be the normal sonic booms, they will be orgasmic booms.

Very nice Dusty! How did you come up with your idea for this prose?
I really am serious--I have an idea, but I would like to see if it is the same as I am thinking of.

BTW Dusty, can you please send the young man in the picture my way after he has paid the other ladies a visit?

    Quoting DustyWidget:
You always leave me wanting more Happy; like all Chinese!
Thinks 'She's either going to understand the joke or she's going to come and kill me.'

Well if I have to die I'd rather die laughing or should that be Happy!!
OK, wise guy, I'm coming with a sharpened Chinese sword. :B Make sure you dun stop laughing.....
