The Athens Alien logs, Day one

Ok so this will be my first ever blog entry. I have decided to try this “new” way of communication to see if it is really so revolutionizing as the internet dot com pushers want us to believe…lol

No I take on this endeavour to see if it is possible to write anything interesting about my more than average life, and maybe also to keep track of my integration into the Greek society.

The latter took a serious hit today when the Greek course I was supposed to take is cancelled due to lack of students It look like there is no interest in a Greek langue course in English, whereas if I want to be taught on Albanian there is no shortage on possibilities. So the question of the day is:

Where to learn Greek without paying a fortune, and whiteout the need to learn the Albanian language first?

Please if you have an answer use a “lepta” (a minute, I think) of your time and drop me a line…

Well....learning greek at school is not the only place. Some community centers offer languages...and some high schools with summer classes offer for anyone to join.
I am learning ALbanian...but from my neighbor. She is teaching me.

Hello Mandy.

The course I was supposed to attend was arranged by the “dimos” (municipality). As I am living (or trying to) on a Greek salary (try that….impossible..) the private language schools for foreigners are too expensive for me. I guess I just have to wait

Hugs to you too…

mmm... only learnt ancient greek at school. As far as I know, the pronounciation is a lot different now... besides.. it's been such a long time ago, I don't think I remember any of it at all...
