At this time of year it truly is about the other people.

I know, I know that the title sounds like some kind of drivel, which you'll find in so many cards, but it's true.

Each year a groups of us, adopt a family through the local charitable organization. This year our "family" was a woman with a young son. I do not know whay, but it's easier to a little 'ess stressful to shop for somone you'll never meet than for one's own family & friends. Shopping is not an activity I enjoy, but this year I even volunteered to be the one to dive around as visited Sears, Zeller's, Wal-Mart et al....

Somewhere in this city of 70,000+, a person is looking at the 14boxes containg food, stocking stuffers, and presents, and quietly saying thanks.

For me, thanks is enough.....

Knowing that someone else will have a better christmas because of your efforts is kinda pleasing. Mind you, the Patriots and the Redskins covering last weekend...REALLY helped!!! LOL!!!

Almost time to start thinking of what small gifts to find for my own biological family. Gift cards always make a nice choice... after all what else truly says I've been driving around thinking of what to get you, and then stopped by a bar for lunch.....did you know a convenience store has both an ATM & sells gift cards at 2am??? lol

I'm in the Uk and this ia delightful thing to read of. In the UK a comedian called Danny Wallace set up a group of people (you can read about them in the book 'Join Me') where they are encouraged to do random acts of kindness. What you describe is very much like that. Well done to you!
