Were you cool in School ?

<---The pic on the left here is me in my Senior year in highschool,( i know its small and maybe fuzzy-thanx A-F-F) i was the popular kid, and this was my "crew" hanging out sitting on my car, me in the center with the blue jacket and converse shoes. (I honestly can't believe i have this pic, its the only one i have after all these years)

My question is, did you have a "crew" ? or were you the loner, the one who kept to themselves, were you the popular kid, or were you the one in the back of the building smoking crack ? Were you the nerd, or the bulley ? Were you the most active in school such as sports and activities or were you home picking your nose to keep yourself busy ?

I was a cheerleader. I wasn't snobby or bitchy. I am pretty much as I am now. I worked and got good grades. I was popular but not the most popular which was ok by me.

Funny you should ask, because I was just thinking about this.
I had my crew, for sure. But I also had my special friends from the periphery. In other words, the people in my 'crowd' all had many things in common. But additionally, I had many one on one friendships with people who might not be friends with my peeps. Not a negative or cliquey thing so much, just probably a reflection of my eclectic nature.

How was I seen? I did OK. I was seen as the drama club chick (did many plays) who was smart, a smart ass, friendly and a 'mom' type. I was also rather intense, so I think that put a few people off.

a herd of cows just galloped by my window (on the ranch side of the road; it's okay) - I wonder if that's symbolic of high school thoughts????

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

Cute~
The cheerleader, in the choir, honor roll, standing on the top of tables at lunch time dancing to the DJ'ed music trying to get the students to "loosen up", c'mon and dance everybody. I'm not sure if that makes me popular, but I never walked far without seeing someone I knew and I never went without a date on a Friday night. High My "crowd" was big enough to take up an entire 5 tables worth of the picnic area outside and everybody knew who I was. High school was fun but I'm glad it's over.

It was an evolution thing, I guess. Small town, Catholic school system, I spent most of my high school years narrowly defined as a nerd, held over from being quiet, shy and a reader in first grade. Gradually over the years, and especially after Senior Retreat, people were willing to see other sides of each other. Between that and being on yearbook, by midway through senior year I wasn't really a total geek. The funny thing is, I was in a theater group separate from school, and I was a completely different person there, with completely different perceptions of me (so much so, that at 17 I had a 31 year old man quite tempted to commit a felony over me)... My theater friends would hardly recognize the person everyone at school thought I was...

I was not popular, but I was not disliked by anyone. I was liked by all, but never fit into a clique. I had my little group of friends. I was happy, still am.

silhouette2005-We never had a name for our crew, we tried several times, the boy on the left, my right..... was my right hand man-he looked up to me more than he should have, yet the 4 of us tried many times to figure a name, but something else came up before a decision was settled. As older youths we did our funk of trouble as well, we were in it together or not, bu it was great.
