Warning : Dont tell a woman she is fat.

- A woman struck by a hit and run car driver in northern England said she was told off by a police officer for using the F-word (sorry folks, its not fart, farthead, or fartknocker} to describe the driver -- "fat."

Mary Magilton, 54, suffered cuts and bruises after

being hit by the car which mounted the pavement while she was chatting with friends in Oldham and then drove off, newspapers reported on Friday.

She reported the incident but was ticked off by a police officer when she said the driver of the car was a "fat" woman.

"I was given a frosty look and told I couldn't say that. I could have said lardy, porky or podgy. But I wouldn't dare use those words," the Daily Mirror quoted her as saying.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the description recorded on the police log of the incident did include the word "fat."

"I don't think she was severely reprimanded," the spokeswoman said, adding GMP had a policy to ensure officers used "appropriate language" that would not cause offence.

Is this lady being to sensitive ? Is she just trying to get her 3 1/2 minutes of fame ? Does she have chip, and is just wasting it on the officer ?

Or do you think she was right in this area ? How would you handle it ? Would you go as far as she did ?

'Obesity' is the medical term used to say a person is 'fat' .

Um, lardy and porky are less offensive than fat? I don't think so. Is she blowing this out of proportion? Dunno. She could have just been shocked that she was told she wasn't allowed to say fat and given a list of words that are more offensive. I think the cop was having her on, though. I could be wrong.

qcao1-this is true, yet would write that word down on paper like a report or say it to someone in a conversation ?

hbgirl2 - I agree with that 100%, i think her throwing a fit was all about craving attention, and getting her two cents-well she got it, and now is back, probably at aquare one again looking for somthing else.

Well she had to have a word to describe the driver. Even as a fat person, I can't find that offensive. What if she had been a black woman, would you not be allowed to say that?

I'm kind of suprised by the officer though. Maybe he's one of those guys who likes BBW or something. Its rare that you find someone who actually minds someone using the word fat to describe a fat woman.

I agree with sexyfitwoman -big woman could have been IT. I am a 'big woman' and I can't say I wanna hear the word 'fat' but I am what I am. Did she not realize she was?! No, seriously, I see how she could have been pissed but she took it tooo far 4 sure. Seeking attention I would say...

1hotwahine excellent question, i should have thought of that...wait...nevermind, to answer this question is that i believe she it totally insecure of about herself, she could be 115ib or 200ib and be totally insecure when the word "f--" is mentioned, so with the insecurity issue wrapped up in wanting to be the center of attention, this was placed on page 14, on the bottom right hand corner next to the toilet repair adds.

hourglasses So glad you stopped by ! These statements of yours are great issues to cover.

1)Of all things i was just chatting with an officer (from the blog to blog youll see i will just talk to anyone on the street with an ear)and he showed me his pamphlett of describing the peoples race, and how they couldn't say black verbally, yet on their check box of race, its pronounced african american, and he also shared you can not say indian anymore you have to say ...and he showed me two mark boxes of what they were pronounced (but as im typing it slipped my mind) yet HIS main worry was, it depends on what tribe they are in, and if you put check the wrong box certain people get mad like saying the word "fat"

2.) I had to laugh cause maybe your right, the officer just might like BBW's.

As a professional, when describing "fat" people you are required to use a word "Obese". For example, I would write or say " This is a very pleasant/angry 45 year old Caucasian/African-American obese/morbidly obese female/male ...".

Cute~

Pehaps the officer was a bit sensitive, but then again you never know if maybe the woman was deserving. For all we know maybe she was quite unpleasant and this was just her way of trying to get attention for something that is really not even an issue. Or maybe I am just in a negative mood today....
